A Pinata for a Birthday Party

Our group has a new name! Create With Connie & Mary will now be called Create With Stamping Friends! Thanks for joining us today!

Today at Create With Stamping Friends we have a color challenge, and quite a challenge this was! Two very bright colors with one pastel… OK, looks like a piñata to me! And who doesn’t love a piñata for a birthday party?! Here’s our color combo ~

And here’s my card ~

True, not exactly traditional piñata colors, but it’s festive-looking anyway! I decided to strip-it-up with a variety of randomly cut widths of cardstock in our three colors to make my background. I glued the strips to a 5-1/2″x 4-1/4″ piece of Basic White, then trimmed it down to 5-1/4″x 4″.

More Details:
  • Taco Fiesta is the stamp set I used for the piñata. I stamped it with black onto Basic White, then colored it with Blends. You can see another card I made with this stamp set HERE.
  • I cropped it out with a Deckled Circle Die, then poked two holes where I wanted my “rope” to attach.
  • For the “rope” I used Black Baker’s Twine and threaded the ends through the two holes, then taped the ends of the twine to the back of the circle. At the top of the twine, I tied a knot and taped it to the back. Dimensionals held it all together and adhered it to the card front.
  • “Let’s Celebrate” came from Light the Sky and I heat embossed it with white embossing powder onto Berry Burst Cardstock.
  • The whole card front is glued to a base of Thick Basic White, 11″x 4-1/4″.
  • Finally, 5 sequins add some sparkle.

Inside:
  • The birthday sentiment is one of our newer Online Exclusives called Sweetly Scripted.
  • The confetti that burst from the piñata is part of Taco Fiesta.
