A Box of Happy!

I think a box of happy mail is such a nice gift! Here is a set of four note cards that I put together in a handmade box that will put a smile on anyone’s face.

Bird Ballad Designer Series Paper, thank you note card idea, boxed gift set, Stampin' Up, Karen Hallam, stampinup

The set primarily uses Bird Ballad DSP with a few coordinating products thrown in. For this first card, I cropped the DSP using Stitched Shapes Dies and added it to Layering Circles Dies. Then I ran some Petal Pink Striped Organza Ribbon tied with white Baker’s Twine. The sentiment is from (retired) Eastern Beauty. I love these fresh colors!

I added a branch from Seasonal Layers Dies and a sweet hand cut bird and flower to compliment the colors in the Bird Ballad DSP for card #2.

For #3, I cropped a Stitched Rectangle frame and glued it over the DSP.

And for this last one, I used a Stitched Shapes oval and Layering Oval Die to house the sentiment, branch, and hand cut birds. I added a little Bird Ballad Trinket hanging from a branch. It’s so cute with the background paper.

Crafting Tip:

When cutting out the birds, leave a small white border around them. It helps to keep them from getting lost against the background. Cut the claws fairly close and glue them so they look like they are standing on the branch – one claw in front, one behind, etc.

Opportunities:

I hope these pictures inspire you to play with your Bird Ballad DSP in some new ways! These four note cards and box are part of a specialty class that I offered. I will be having more of these types of classes with different products, so let me know if you are interested in coming! If you don’t live in my area, no problem! Many of my classes can be mailed to you as a Stamping Habit Kit To Go. I provide the cut and scored paper and embellishments. You provide the stamps and ink. Email me at karenshallam@gmail.com for more information and opportunities.

Thanks for spending a few moments to read my blog! So happy to have you join me in this stamping habit! Have a great weekend!

  1. OOPS! I DON’T KNOW WHY I DONT SEE THE ERRORS BEFORE I HIT COMMENT! It should say “ANYONE WOULD LOVE TO RECEIVE THESE”, so sorry.

    • Lol! I’m getting really good at reading between the lines! I didn’t think you meant No One! Thanks for clarifying though 🙂 I appreciate the compliment! Thank you!

  2. WOW, you did a beautiful job! No one in this world LOVE to receive such a stunning gift! TFS.

I love your notecards! I agree with everyone that it’s a great gift to give someone. I would love to see a video on how to make the box too. Thanks for the tips too!

  4. Very nice set!

  5. Hi could you tell me how you made the lovely box. Xx

    • Hi Sheila, I’m glad you like it. The box was a whole class that I offered and it would be difficult to tell you the process. If I ever offer an online video class, I’ll post it in my blog and you can watch. As of now I’ve not done video, but am thinking about it for the future!

  6. Chris from Pella

What a fun bird bonanza! Definitely a win-win class. Fun to make and fun to receive. All the bright colors and fun birds make a great project.

    • Thanks, Chris! I can’t get enough of these birds! Which is probably evident by the amount of posts I’ve been doing with them! Lol!

Nice set of note cards. Thanks for the tips, too. I need to make some thank you cards for my committee and these would be extra special.

Beautiful! How much are your classes, if I might ask?

    • Thank you! I generally ask $18 for a class. For a product class such as this, I add on the price of the products that the attendees will be purchasing and taking home with them. This class was $35 and everyone took home 1/2 packs of DSP, 1/2 packs of Note Cards & Env, 1/2 pack of Trinkets, and 1 spool of Baker’s Twine.

  9. Karen, these cards are beautiful. I sure the class will love making them and everyone would love receiving them.
    Have a blessed day.
