Wonderland Pines for PPA 276

Here is my card for the Pals Paper Arts Challenge for the week.  My design was inspired by this sketch by Kerry Willard Bray:

I have to tell you I went through quite the process to complete this card.  I don’t recommend this approach, but I am quite pleased with the end result, so sometimes you have to go around in circles before it lands where you want it!

I started with the trees from Wonderland and stamped them onto Whisper White cardstock with Basic Black Archival ink.  Then I sponged in the sky using Marina Mist and Night of Navy.  I glittered the trees – they just seemed to need some snow!  And there it sat for about 3 days waiting for my inspiration to kick in.

I backed it with navy.  It sat another day.  That navy snowflake paper was calling me, but it all seemed so busy when I put it under the trees.  I rejected that idea.  It sat.

This evening the PPA sketch popped into my mind and I thought maybe I could cut the snowflakes out with my 1″ circle punch.  Awesome — I got to use my navy snowflake paper, but it didn’t overtake the trees. And the “Merry Christmas” from Teeny Tiny Wishes fit so perfectly in that little white space under the trees.  I didn’t start out with a bow, but that blank white space was bugging me, so on it went.

Here’s a close up of the glittery trees.  The glitter doesn’t like to be photographed, does it?  It’s much more sparkly in person.

And the inside sentiment is something we are all wishing for right about now ~

Enjoy your weekend!
