Wonderful Romance + Botanical Butterflies = A Beautiful Combo

Here’s another pretty, feminine card for you today ~

I made this one up mostly from the Floral Romance suite. It includes the Wonderful Romance Stamp Set, Wonderful Florals Framelit Dies, and Floral Romance Specialty Designer Series Paper.

The first thing I did was cut the right edge of a 5-1/2″ x 4-1/4″piece of Pear Pizzazz cardstock. Look closely at those leaves – the die embosses the detail into each leaf as it is cutting it out! Beautiful! I wanted a border of Old Olive on the top and bottom, so I cut 1/8″ off each end of the Pear Pizzazz piece. Next I glued a 5-1/4″ x 2-3/4″ piece of DSP to the Pear Pizzazz, then wrapped white Baker’s Twine around the seam twice and tied a bow. At that point, I glued the whole panel to the Old Olive base card.

To make the butterfly I punched it out of the black and white DSP, Botanical Butterflies, using the Butterfly Duet Punch. Then I lightly colored it with Light Old Olive and Light Highland Heather Blends. I want to go in and give this poor guy his antennae back! That’s an easy fix with the stamp from Butterfly Gala.

I covered the sentiment piece with white vellum to give it a soft look. The problem with vellum is getting it to stick without the glue showing through. So I put the purple Enamel Dot where I wanted it, then put a dot of liquid glue behind it and a little smear of it where it would be hidden behind the butterfly’s wing. That’s all that it needed!

To make this card, please reference the supplies below in the Product List. You can buy anything you need by clicking on the thumbnail pictures. That will take you to my online Stampin’ Up! store, where you will find the product details. This was a fun card to make! I do hope you’ll give it a try and let me know how you like it!

I’ll be back on Friday with a more whimsical, playful birthday card. See you then!

  4. Good Morning Karen,
I love the softness of this card. I like where you put the baker’s twine. I always tend to put it in the same place.
    Have a blessed day.
