Wildflower Birthday (Cards)

With the new year approaching fast, I’m going to need to stock up on birthday cards! So this weekend I went to my sleeve of Wildflower Birthday Designer Series Paper (love!) This paper is on the Last Chance List and is discounted to $9.90/pack! That is down from its original cost of $16.50. And it’s on “low inventory” now, so if you love it, get it before it’s gone!

I’ve got two cards to share with you. They are each different, yet similar. When I create, I have an inner dialog going all the time. Do you do that, too? “Oh, wish I’d done that differently!” “Oh, I should have embossed behind that focal point!” 🤦🏻‍♀️  It’s going all the time! It was happening when I started these cards.

Here’s the first:

the right words, wildflower birthday specialty dsp, party banner dies, birthday card idea, last chance list, stampin up, karen hallam

The punch-outs are what make this pack a “Specialty DSP” and they are wonderful! This cake is a punch-out and I zhuzhed it up a bit with more small punch-outs.

Materials, Measurements, and Steps:
  • Blueberry Bushel Cardstock base, 8-1/2″x 5-1/2″, folded at 4-1/4″
  • Wildflower Birthday DSP, cropped with Party Banners Dies, 5″x 3-7/8″
  • Gold Striped 3/8″ Mesh Ribbon, 2 strips 4″ and 5″, secured with a Dimensional
  • Wildflower Birthday DSP large birthday cake punch-out, adhered with Dimensionals
  • Two small flower punch-outs added to the cake top and near the bottom with Dimensionals
  • “Happy Birthday” from The Right Words Stamp Set in Blueberry Bushel on Basic White, 2-1/4″x 1/2″, glued to cake with Multipurpose Glue + one Dimesional on the right side
  • Three Low Profile Sparkle Dots in blue

As I was making this, I started thinking it would be cute to add a bit of DSP down at the bottom of the Party Banner. So…I had to make another and try it out!

Here’s Card #2:

the right words, wildflower birthday specialty dsp, party banner dies, birthday card idea, hearts of love emb folder, stampin up, karen hallam

My inner dialog was telling me that I should have embossed the Party Banner – after I glued the plain one on! Whew, easy to make another and glue it over the top! Good thing I caught myself before finishing off the card.

The directions are all the same, except…

  • Emboss the Blueberry Bushel Party Banner with a cute embossing folder.
    • I used Hearts of Love EF, coming out on January 6.
  • Glue a bit of floral DSP from Wildflower Birthday DSP to the back of the Party Banner before gluing it down to the base.
  • Add the large flower bouquet punch-out to the front, with another pink flower punch-out over the top (with a Dimensional).
  • Add three Muted Palette Dots in the center of the added flower.
  • Glue the “Happy Birthday” banner as shown. I cut this one a little narrower at 3/8″.

Chances are you’ve already got this Wildflower Birthday DSP, but at 60% off, why not get another pack and have lots of fun cards on hand for all the birthdays you will be acknowledging this new year! You can order it HERE or below in my Product List, along with everything else I used on these cards.

  1. I just made a couple cards yesterday with this pack of papers but mine were not nearly as cool as yours. I gotta go check to see if I have some of the blueberry bushel cardstock. That sure puts a wow in the flower card. I am so trying not to buy any more paper but now I really want to use up what I have. New ideas for some of the cutouts as well. Thanks for linking up three other cards too!

  2. Wow Karen
Those are great cards to CASE!
Thanks for all the details! I have 2 packs( one is partially used)but I’m considering another because this DSP makes great “thinking of you” or “going through a difficult time “, cards, as well as birthday cards.
