Which do you like best?

As I was preparing my card for the Pal’s Blog Hop on Wednesday, I was thinking I might show off another of the Nature’s Poem Designer Series Paper, which started me on a process of card-building and re-building. I made my card and it just wasn’t what I had been visualizing. Ever been there? So today I thought I’d show you the two that I was trying to decide between, and let YOU be the judge!

This is the card I started with ~

nature's poem dsp, love what you do, birthday card idea, all-purpose card idea, stampin up, Karen Hallam, stampinup

It does show the paper well…I paired Nature’s Poem with Tranquil Textures, a match made in heaven in my opinion! So many of the papers in the two sets are complimentary. I divided the two with a skinny strip of Tranquil Tide cardstock, and added the Nature’s Twine to it.

For the sentiment, I used the Love What You Do stamp set and heat embossed on Vellum. I used Tranquil Tide ink, then covered it with Clear Embossing Powder before heat setting it. It is layered over Mint Macaron cardstock.

Hmmmm…well, I over-thought it, and came up with Plan B ~

Nature's Poem DSP, Tranquil Textures DSP, Nature's Twine, Happy Birthday, birthday card idea, stampin up, Karen Hallam, stampinup

This is the same basic card, but I changed the focal point to make it a birthday card. I used a Stitched Shape Framelit square with Whisper White cardstock and topped it with a Tranquil Tide Happy Birthday Thinlit die cut.

I guess one is more feminine, the other more bold. Do you like one over the other? It will be interesting to see your preference. Leave me a comment and share your thoughts!

  1. I too like #1. Something about the scalloped velum did it for me. I also liked #2 card-maybe using a different color for the happy Birthday might tone it down a bit.
    Thanks for sharing.

  2. Wow, overwhelming majority for #1 so far! Thanks, everyone! I appreciate your input.

  3. I vote for number one too. Very pretty!

  4. Hi Karen. I’ll vote for the first one too. Both are lovely as always but the paper just seems to need something a little softer than the bold happy birthday.

  5. Hi Karen, I like the vellum one better. I like the b’day one but maybe it’s just too much Tranquil Tide with the birthday cutout that it seems overwhelming. And I have that happen all the time that it doesn’t turn out the way I visualized it.

  6. Thanks, Nancy! You have a blessed weekend, too!

  7. Hi Karen, I like the first one better, with the velum. Very true, both are great and the BD one is perfect to have on hand.
    Have a blessed weekend.
    🙂
