Vertical Tri-Fold for Pals December Blog Hop!

Welcome to the Pals’ Blog Hop! We’re so glad you’re here because we made some great projects for our Retirement Fun Fold Party  – showcasing our favorite products from the Holiday Catalog that will be leaving us forever. You may be starting the hop here or coming from a previous Pal’s blog. Either way, you’ve come to the right place. You’ll find the full line-up below to help you move, or “hop” along from Pal to Pal.

My fun fold card is somewhat of a surprise, because it looks like a regular card…until you go to open it!

Instead of opening to the side, you pull the top piece up to reveal a vertical tri-fold card with two places for messages on the inside ~

On the inside, I’ve used sentiments from Peaceful Boughs to coordinate with the Beautiful Boughs Dies on the front.

Here’s a look at the side view to give you a different perspective ~

Directions

This is fun and easy to make. You only need a few measurements…

  • Night of Navy Cardstock (2 pieces): 5-1/2″x 4-1/4″
  • Whisper White Thick Cardstock: 11″x 3-1/2″, scored at 5″ and 10″ for the inside
  • Whisper White Cardstock (2 pieces): 5-1/4″x 4″ for layering
  • DSP [I chose Wrapped in Plaid] (2 pieces): 5-1/8″x 3-7/8″

Glue the DSP to the Whisper White Cardstock pieces and those to the Night Of Navy pieces. Lay one flat on the table and glue the bottom 5″ of Thick Whisper White Cardstock to the top of it. The fold should be at the top.

With a valley and mountain fold, close the Thick Whisper White Cardstock down. You should now have a 1″ piece on top, to which you will glue your second Navy/White/DSP layers. The two Navy/White/DSP pieces should match up exactly so that you don’t see the bottom one until you open the card.

To decorate the front of the card, I cut a piece of Gold Foil Sheet at 3-7/8″x 2″and wrapped a 5″ length of Shaded Spruce/Gold Striped Ribbon around it, securing it to the back. Then I lined it up with the DSP edges and glued it down. Tip: Use a non-liquid glue, such as Snail, behind the foil to avoid glue bumps showing through on the front!

Next I cropped and glued a Shaded Spruce bough over the Gold Foil, added two pine cones and a faux bow.

I then took “Peace” from So Many Stars, cropped it with the smallest Layering Ovals Dies and layered it with a scalloped Shaded Spruce oval.

To give it the finishing touch, I dabbed some Snowfall Accents Puff Paint on the bough branch and heat-set it to puff it up.

Retiring products (as of January 3) on my card are:
  • Wrapped in Plaid 6″x 6″ Specialty DSP (#149596)
  • So Many Stars Stamp Set (#150496)
  • Shaded Spruce/Gold Striped Ribbon (#149597)
  • Snowfall Accents Puff Paint (#150691)

I’m happy to announce that Peaceful Boughs will make a re-appearance in the 2020 Holiday Catalog!

More inspiration awaits!
