I had some time to rethink and redo my card from Friday’s post. If you missed that one, you can view it here.
The changes are subtle, but I’m happier with the end result! And that’s all the matters, right?
This time I doubled up the Vellum. I like that you can still see the print behind it, yet it creates a nice platform for the sentiment. And by doubling it, my stamped “Christmas” doesn’t get lost in the print. I did not heat emboss it this time, but I did use my Stamparatus and hit it three times with the ink.
I still tripled the thickness of the “Merry” sentiment by die-cutting three and stacking them together. This close-up shows you a peek at the layering. I adhered the three together with Tombow Multipurpose Liquid Glue. For the top layer, I used Glimmer Paper instead of the glossy look of Friday’s. I found the best Big Shot platform to use for these word dies is the Precision Base Plate. Trust me, I tried waxed paper, dryer sheets, the brush, the piercing tool — the Precision Base Plate was by far the most successful.
And on this card I used a couple of mistletoe sprigs from Pretty Pines Thinlits Dies cut from Granny Apple Green! Another surprise! The color blends well but is just a bit brighter and can be seen and not lost against that print.
So there you have it! My first Christmas card for the year :-). Now I’m going to put that away and focus on Autumn. Our weather still screams summer at 100 + degrees, but I know Fall is just around the corner.

Your 1st card was nice but I really like the 2nd one………everything just seems to stand out a little more……..I often go thru that “thing” that you just feel it just isn’t right & you have to walk away at take a look at it later & figure out what is missing!! Great job!!
I like both but maybe today’s a smidge better with the glimmery Merry on the slant and the pretty mistletoe. Double velum, never would have guessed. But both are sure pretty! Great job showing a stepped up version!
Thanks, Chris!
One word does it…..
SHAZAM!!!!
Love the tweaks that you did and the double vellum…..another brilliant idea- I can’t wait to try that tip as it make such a difference. Thanks for starting my week with inspiration!
Thanks, Susan! You know your comments keep me going!
Good Morning Karen, I don’t know how I missed Friday’s post but it was beautiful. I couldn’t imagine what you would do differently. The double velum is a great idea and I adore the mistletoe twigs. The glimmer merry is a bit “snowy-like”.
🙂
Thank you Nancy! I posted a little late on Friday, but I’m glad you found it! Thanks for your kind words!
