Tropical Shirt Card

Dinoroar DSP, Rooted in Nature, Tropical Chic, Hawaiian Print Shirt card idea, pajama shirt card idea, Stampin Up, Karen Hallam, stampinup,

I started out to make a tropical shirt card with this Dinoroar Designer Series Paper. Now as I look at it, it really looks more like pajamas! Wah, waaah! Too funny. Maybe a cute sleepover invitation?

My inspiration was a shop I saw in Hawaii this spring when I was over on Kauai for Drawing Botanical lessons. It is called Hawaiian Dirt Shirts. You can find all kinds of wild print shirts in there!

In case you want to make a (pajama) shirt for your man, the directions are simple. Cut your printed paper to 4″ x 5-1/4″, then cut it down the middle length-wise (2″). Fold back the collar, equally on both sides and give them each a little snip to resemble a shirt collar.

I put an embossed piece of Pool Party behind the print to look like a tee shirt behind. I added a little folded down pocket, a small strip of paper behind the neck area, and three buttons down the center.

Any guy who would wear this shirt must be a very strong character that is super comfortable in his manliness, so the sentiments I picked from Rooted in Nature and Tropical Chic clearly reflect that!

Totally tongue-in-cheek, but I did have fun making this shirt/pajama top/whatever you think it looks like! I think it would be adorable on my young grandsons! See another card that I made for my grandson from this paper HERE.

Commercial Break!

I don’t often try to sell in my blog posts, but I wonder if I’m being somewhat negligent by not doing so? Stampin’ Up! provides a wonderful opportunity to be your own crafty business person, or even just to have full-on access to great products at a discounted price.

When you join the company as a Demonstrator (business OR hobby), you get a great discount on the things you love to purchase, the chance to make some money by doing the thing you love to do, and a network of amazing crafters that love to share and help you along your journey.

What you get:

The day you sign up, you get to build your own Starter Kit. We like to call it the Ultimate Bundle, because it is the greatest deal in town! Normally, you would put together your list of items up to $125, and pay only $99 – including free shipping! BUT RIGHT NOW, during July and August, you get an extra $30 toward that Starter Kit. That’s $155.00 worth of product for $99! It gets better. You also get a $10 coupon to use toward a purchase the following month. I’m going to do the math for you:  $125. + 30. + 10. + $16.50 (10% shipping fee) = $181.50 value for $99. THAT, my friends, is a DEAL! The Ultimate Bundle!

What you do:

You sign up under me, Karen Hallam, and become part of my Stamping Habit Team. In about a week, you will receive your personally chosen Starter Kit in the mail. You start crafting! I’m here to help you in any way you need. I can coach you on starting a business, or I can give you some ideas and technique tips for your projects. I will share what I know with you. If you decide after the first quarter of your demonstratorship that it isn’t for you, you may drop at any time. Although I’m guessing with the Holiday Catalog coming out (Demonstrators get to start ordering in August…one month before the public) you will want to stick with it for awhile 😉

  1. Very cute. I thought of Shila when I saw it!

  2. Chris from Pella

Does sort of remind me of flannel jammies but it is still cute no matter. I have been trying to figure out a good print for the pig’s Hawaiian shirt. My attempt at the swap blended in with the pig too much.

    • Yes, about the swap, Chris…is it still going? I sent one in last time and never heard a word about it again. I know Susan is super busy and traveling, so I’m wondering if we are still swapping. Any news about that?

  3. Shirt or PJ’s…doesn’t matter! This card is so much fun!

  4. I thought this was a great shirt. It would be perfect for any summer occasion. Reminds me of a vacation!
    Have a blessed day.
