Tropical Chic is Singin’ the Blues

It’s Tropical Chic in unconventional colors today. I love these blues and the way they compliment each other. It looks very ocean-sea-breezy to me!

I’m sneaking in an extra post this week, because I want to enter my card into the TGIF Challenge #220. Here is the banner that started my creative thought process:

And my “winner’s” badge! ~

WINNER BUTTON!

When I saw the backside of this piece of Follow Your Art DSP, I knew I wanted to pair it with Bermuda Bay, Pretty Peacock, and Coastal Cabana. Even the names of these colors transport me to a Caribbean beach!

Construction

I began by layering a panel of Shimmery White cardstock over a Bermuda Bay card base. Then I cut the Follow Your Art top panel 1/8″ smaller and cropped the flower design from Tasteful Backgrounds dies into it. I also used the same die to crop the design into a slightly smaller rectangle of Fun Foam. I matched the two and glued them together with some liquid glue. Tip: This is a great way to provide the lift you want over a large area instead of using several Dimensionals. I love our Dimensionals but this provides an overall stability to your paper that is wonderful.

I stamped five flowers from Tropical Chic in the three blues and cropped them out with the matching Tropical Dies. A couple of fronds cut with Pretty Peacock cardstock balances the design.

Wink of Stella and three Rhinestone Basic Jewels give this card front a bit of bling! The sentiment, stamped with Pretty Peacock ink comes from Good Morning Magnolia.

I’m excited to give this to a friend of mine who will be having a birthday soon. She loves all things tropical and I know she will love this card!

I looked at this before I started reading. I thought to myself ocean breezes. Sure enough! Love these colors together. I guess I am not into tropical or beach stuff but I love this card. Guess I am hopelessly landlocked and the Mighty Mississippi evokes more muddy looking colors! So pretty, Karen.
