Traditions of Christmas

Last week, Jeanie Stark had a Mystery Stampin’ post that led us through creating this beautiful “spanner” card. It opens to reveal a “secret message,” then opens again to contain the written message! It was so much fun to follow her directions. You can get the PDF of her instructions HERE. Of course, everyone who makes one has a different “look” because she doesn’t tell us which colors or papers to use. So I picked the new beautiful Traditions of Christmas DSP, Cherry Cobbler Cardstock and Gold Foil accents.

Here’s my card:

The card front has two strips of Traditions of Christmas DSP and one of Regal Distressed DSP layered over Gold Foil. The Old Olive branch comes from Christmas Greenery Dies and the sentiment, embossed with Gold Embossing Powder, comes from Ornamental Christmas Stamp Set.

Open the first layer (or “spanner”) to reveal part of the inside, a coordinating DSP from Traditions of Christmas, and the secret message! I picked this one from Branching Out Stamp Set and stamped it in Cherry Cobbler ink.

Open the next layer to reveal the Basic White panel for your written message. I adorned it with a piece of Traditions of Christmas DSP, fussy cut.

Looking back at the front again, I embellished it with Iridescent Foil Gems and a bow with Black & White & Gold (the white one) Baker’s Twine.

I love these colors for Christmas! The Cherry Cobbler and Gold are so rich together and that pop of pink and green brighten it up. So pretty!

I’m writing this before seeing what everyone else made. I can’t wait to see the variety!

Jeanie does one of these nearly every week. Want to play? I’m sure she would love to have you participate! And you’ll get your card published on her Sunday blog, which is kind of neat!

Happy Stamping!
