Tons of Texture

I don’t know if you’ve noticed, but the new products in this new 2020 Annual Catalog seem to have tons of texture. For example, this Designer Series Paper, called In Good Taste, is loaded with visual texture. When looking at it, you almost think you could feel the texture. I grabbed onto the textural theme and ran with it on this card.

My design was inspired by the Freshly Made Sketches drawing for the week. Here’s a look at the sketch:

In Good Taste DSP is a large assortment of photographic images found in home decor. Each piece (12 double-sided sheets) has the look of a tile backsplash, a carpet, a tile floor, upholstery, or hardwood flooring. It’s all in a great assortment of neutrals (love the neutrals!). Here is a look at the paper pack:

I chose one of the brick “backsplash” patterns for my card. The narrow strip that I added is the backside of the brick print. It looks like a nubby upholstery.

Even More Texture

Once I chose the patterns for the left side of my card, I decided to add some tactile texture to the right with the Brick & Mortar Embossing Folder.

Not wanting to stop the roll, I layered an Early Espresso Stitched Oval with Champagne Foil, covered with Mercury Glass Acetate. The acetate retired but since I still have a bunch, I couldn’t resist the interesting visual texture that it added!
