To Every Season, Christmas Notecard

Here I go with purple for Christmas again! With a little research, I found that purple is a royal color and is very appropriate for ushering in baby Jesus, King of kings! So purple it is! It also helps that Feels Like Frost Designer Series Paper has a lot of purple in it!

The Notecard

This is the third in my series, One Stamp Set, Three Different Ways. You can see card #1 Halloween here, and card #2 Thanksgiving here. Today I’ve gone with the Merry Christmas sentiment and the snowflake stamps to embellish this very beautiful paper from Feels Like Frost 6″x 6″ DSP.

Seriously, the paper does all the work on this one! I’ve taken a Whisper White Notecard & Envelope (measuring 5″x 3-1/2″) and added two cardstock layers – Seaside Spray and Highland Heather. The DSP goes on last. You can get two of these cards out of one sheet of DSP. Stamp and done! Here’s a picture of the stamp bundle again.

I didn’t use the punch on this card, but it is really cute, so I’ll show you that in a minute. Instead of punching out the snowflakes, I stamped them with Versamark and heat set some Shimmer White Embossing Powder. It leaves behind a delicate glittery look, which is exactly what I wanted. Nothing to cover up that pretty DSP scene!

Here you can see the pretty sparkle. There is a third snowflake in the trees, but only visible when you see it in person.

On the inside (and outside) sentiment I used Gorgeous Grape, and on the snowflakes I used Seaside Spray.

My TIP for using these pre-cut and scored Notecards: When you choose to add layers to the notecard, as I have, it makes for an uncomfortably tight fit into its envelope. I always chop off a 1/8″ bit from the sides and top before I assemble the card. That allows room to decorate the card as you wish. And it’s not so much that anyone would notice that you’ve altered it at all.

The Punch

Cute as a button! This little snowflake punch coordinates with the smallest of the three snowflake stamps, and it works as a stand alone as well. Here I’ve stamped three snowflakes, Seaside Spray onto Seaside Spray Cardstock, and punched them out along with three Sparkle Glimmer Paper snowflakes, three Silver Foil snowflakes, and three Mercury Glass Acetate snowflakes. I’d like to say I threw them up in the air and glued them where they landed! No, I placed them, moved them, moved them again – then glued them!  It makes for a very shiny and sparkly tag. Here’s another view to show you the shine ~

  1. This card is stunning. The way you incorporated the sentiment into the card scene is just perfect and the embossed snowflakes are beautiful.

  2. Very beautiful Karen. Another winner! I feel a CASE coming.

  3. I love this. Not only is it pretty, it is just plain fun with those little details like the matting and glittery snowflakes. I see I will need to get another set of white note cards so I can CASE away. Thanks for the reminder of the great tip of cutting the card down a bit to accommodate the extra layer. Silly me thought the punch was a flower in just glancing at the punches. Love the mileage you are getting out of this little bundle.
