Tips to Save Our Sanity

We all need occasional tips to save our sanity! Yesterday I showed you a Christmas card on which I used a small string of lights. I promised you some tips for getting a good crop. Here’s the card again, if you missed it ~

I find it hard to line up these small images easily to get a good crop with equal edges around the images.

Here is a trick I discovered:
  • With the die you want to use, crop one out of scrap paper first.

  • Stamp the image on cardstock as you normally would.
  • Take the stamped image to your Die Cut Machine along with the cropped “dummy” scrap. Line up the cropped scrap around the stamped image until you get it just right. Secure with a little removable tape if you’d like.

  • Nestle the die into the cropped scrap that is sitting over your stamped image. Secure with removable tape or Post It Tape.

  • Run it through the machine. When you are done, you will have a perfectly lined up cropped image!

  • Keep the cropped scrap with your Dies and re-use it each time you want to use that die.

I know it takes an extra step or two for the first one, but it is a time saver in the long run. I’ve redone so many of these small images which drives me crazy! This technique worked well for the little bird, too!
