Take To The Sky (for CSF 821)

It’s a new month and we have a new summer banner at Create With Stamping Friends! We also have a new sketch challenge. And since Father’s Day is right around the corner, I’ve chosen Take to the Sky for my card.

Here’s the sketch ~

And here’s my card ~

Details ~
  • Smoky Slate Cardstock base, 8-1/2″x 5-1/2″, folded at 4-1/4″
  • Pecan Pie layer, 5-1/4″x 4″
  • Take to the Sky DSP, airplane print, 5-1/8″x 3-7/8″
  • Take to the Sky DSP, plaid print, 4″x 3-7/8″
    • Cut at an angle starting 5/8″ down from the top right corner to a point about 1″ from the left side, then cut up to leave about 1-1/2″ along the left side. For the bottom piece, start at the lower left corner and cut up at an angle, then down to leave about 1″ on the lower right side. Honestly, I didn’t measure this. I just eyeballed it and cut. These are the measurements I ended up with! I did try to get the cut lines parallel to each other.
  • Sentiment from Layering Leaves in Pecan Pie on Basic White, cropped with Nested Essentials Dies and adhered with Dimensionals

On the inside, I’ll stamp a Father’s Day greeting from my retired stash. I used a 1/2″ strip left over from cutting the plaid pieces on the front. Three Pecan Pie dots provide the not-too-feminine embellishment (and they match nicely! 😊)

What an unusual design. Think I would try it by layering the top and bottom pieces.
