It’s the beginning of a new week as I’m typing this! I hope you have a beautiful week ahead! I have a fun card to share with you today. It’s for a sweet friend (obviously!) I’m sharing it mostly for the techniques, as the sentiment is not a Stampin’ Up! product, but you may have something similar in your collection that will work.
Here’s my card:
Techniques:
- Masking
- Ink Blending
- Tone-on-tone
- Heat Embossing
- Stacked Sentiment
Masking
I cut a piece of Masking Paper to 5-1/2″x 4-1/4″ and cropped a heart-shaped die out of the middle. I used a heart die that I’ve had for years. Maybe you remember Stampin’ Up! Sweet & Sassy Hearts Dies?
With the heart cut out and set aside, I stuck the rest of the Masking Paper to a piece of Basic White, also 5-1/2″x 4-1/4″.
Ink Blending
I started with Melon Mambo and blended color on the top left side of the heart using Blending Brushes. The middle section is Timid Tiger, and the lower right portion, Daffodil Delight.
Tone-on-Tone
With the masking paper still in place, I stamped the little flower stamp from Pretty Florals, Melon Mambo on the pink, Timid Tiger on the orange, and Daffodil Delight on the yellow.
Peel and reveal the beautifully blended and stamped design!
Heat Embossing
My sentiment is from a stamp & die set by Honey Bee, simply called Friend. I stamped “friend” in Timid Tiger on Basic White, then heat embossed it using Clear Embossing Powder for a really cool shine.
Stacked Sentiment
Once I die cut the word “friend” I die cut two more out of Thick Basic White Cardstock and glued them onto each other. This gives the sentiment a slight lift off the paper without Dimensionals. It’s enough to make it stand out a bit without adding too much dimension.
My inspiration actually came from this retired DSP, Friends of the Ocean. See the tone-on-tone design in the paper? I love that look and incorporated it into my card.
I used the new 2025-27 In Color Flat Pearls for embellishment. The Strawberry Slush pearls are pretty close in color to the brushed-on Melon Mambo!
I hope you’ve seen a new (or were reminded of an old) technique to try today! Go ahead and get inky and have fun!
Let me know how it comes out!
