Sugar & Spice – So Nice!

Hot cocoa in the wintertime is always a treat. And when you add a peppermint candy cane stick and present it in this adorable Santa pouch, you have a sweet gift for someone!

I want to credit Janice Urke for this pouch design. It’s a very simple cut and fold. You start with 1/2 sheet of cardstock, cut lengthwise to 11″ x 4-1/4″. Score it at 5-1/2″ and 9-1/2″. Fold it in half, then fold the front flap down in the opposite direction. Then the fun begins when you decorate!

I used Real Red Cardstock for my base, layered Garden Green and a bit of leftover Quilted DSP from last year on the top flap after rounding the bottom corners on all three. I used the Buffalo Check background stamp and Smoky Slate ink to create the top panel under Santa.

Instead of gluing this pouch together, you simply tie it together with ribbon…Gray Granite on mine. Put your goodies in first to determine how tight to tie it!

So Santa has got to be the cutest Christmas stamp around, don’t you agree? He takes minimal coloring. I colored him with my Blends and cropped him down to about 2″ square, layered him over Garden Green and Real Red, then popped him onto the pouch with Dimensionals.

You’ll see this Santa pouch along with others for sale at the Roseville, CA Curves Open House tomorrow – Saturday, Dec. 1st, from 2:00 – 5:00 pm.

Ho Ho Ho, So Sweet! Have a wonderful weekend!

  1. Oh cute! I made some of these a couple of years ago but forgot about the ones you just tie shut. I have seen the glued ones recently. The ribbon really goes well with the buffalo check and I love the piece from the quilted paper from last year. Of course your Santa is cute as a button too. These are great for papers you get in a share as well. So fun to see the updated version with Santa strutting his stuff as well as his goodies! Well done!

  2. Oh this is so cute! Pretty easy too! Thanks for sharing.
