Stitched Leaves Card for Thanksgiving

My brother- and sister-in-law are having the extended family over for Thanksgiving this year! This had been a tradition before Covid (BC!) but we haven’t all been together for two years now, and I’m so looking forward to seeing everyone again. Of course, I needed to make them a card to thank them, so I made this Stitched Leaves Card for Thanksgiving.

I’m thankful that The Paper Players made this their theme challenge this week! It got me motivated to make my card. Here is their challenge banner.

The Paper Players Theme Challenge, Give Thanks

I started with the Beauty of the Earth Designer Series Paper and took my colors from this leafy branch print. Love these fall colors! My sentiment is stamped with Early Espresso ink onto Basic White and cut with a Layering Circles Die. I layered that with a gold metallic sheet from the Gold & Rose Gold Metallic papers. Three Stitched Leaves are Merry Merlot, Bumblebee, and Cajun Craze. The stick die-cuts are from Intricate Leaves Dies, one in Espresso and one in Gold Metallic.

I added a 1/2″ strip of the Gold Metallic down the left side of the DSP after running it through the Die Cut Machine with a Stitched Leaves die. Gold Elegant Trim and a Brushed Metallic Dot are my two final bits of bling. It all sits on a base of Cinnamon Cider Cardstock with Dimensionals.

Tip: The Gold Elegant Trim has a mind of its own! Tame it by putting Dimensionals over the trim on the back of the DSP before trying to tie it. It is so much easier that way! And if you don’t have someone else to put their finger on it while you tie the bow, a pair of reverse tweezers holds the beginning knot very well! It’s a sanity-saver, take it from me! 🙂
