Spotlight on Nature (for CSF862)

It’s Thursday again and time for another Create With Stamping Friends Challenge! This week is a color challenge. I was really tripped up with Lemon Lime Twist and Summer Splash together, until I put them together on the leaves in Spotlight on Nature!

Here’s the Challenge:

And here’s my card:

spotlight on nature, greetings for all mix & match ephemera pack, textured Notes Dies, CSF862, best wishes card idea, stampin up, karen hallam

See what I mean? Separately they clashed (in my eye!) but mixing them with Blends on the leaves oddly enough worked for me. What do you think?

Here are the details:
  • Basic Black Cardstock base, 8-1/2″x 5-1/2″, folded at 4-1/4″
  • Summer Splash Cardstock, 5-1/4″x 4″, cropped with two Textured Notes Dies to create a frame
  • Basic White Cardstock, 4-1/4″x 2-3/4″, cropped with a Textured Notes Die
  • Spotlight on Nature stamped with Memento Tuxedo Black ink and colored with Blends ~ Calypso Coral, Summer Splash, and Lemon Lime Twist
  • Sentiment from Greetings For All Mix & Match Ephemera Pack
  • Embellishements from 2024-2026 In Color Resin Dots, Wink of Stella on the petal bases

LOVE the Summer Splash next to Basic Black. What a POP of color! Cropping it with two dies gives you a 1/4″ narrow strip frame to glue down. It gives the illusion of another Black layer, but it’s just the card base showing through.

Tips:

When using the black Greetings For All punch out sentiments, run your Basic Black Blends Marker around the edges to “erase” the white cardstock core. Adhere it with the Black Dimensionals. Both of these things create a finished look.

Also, lift up the stamped centerpiece with Stampin’ Dimensionals to make it stand out just a little bit more!

OK, time to get more inspiration over at Create With Stamping Friends. Enjoy!

  1. Thanks for the tip on coloring the edges of the punch outs. I also like to cut the “dots” off that hold them into the cardboard. A clever frame idea
    too!

Those challenge colors were a challenge but you did it! Such a pretty card and loving the bold pop of color with the black. Love the layers.

  3. Karen, this is a great take on the challenge colors. Beautiful card. Enjoy your day! Hilda Burton
