Spoiler Alert…Swap Card!

If you are swapping cards with me at OnStage this week, and want to be surprised…close this post immediately! 🙂  Some of you already have it, but for those who haven’t seen it yet, this is your spoiler alert!

If you don’t know what I’m talking about, let me explain ~ When Stampin’ Up! Demonstrators get together for the annual OnStage Convention, we make loads of cards ahead of time, then swap them with other demonstrators. We come home with tons of new ideas and cards to use! This week is the convention, in fact, it’s Stampin’ Up!’s 30th anniversary year, so the party will be BIG. Thousands of stampers will converge on the Orlando Convention Center. Watch out Orlando, here we come!

So, here is my swap card. In my usual fashion, I mixed up the products and ended up with a “hybrid” card. This one is for Christmas, and I am pleased with the way it turned out ~

The main event of this card is the Designer Series Paper, Under The Mistletoe. I mixed and matched two of the prints and layered them with Old Olive and Real Red.

The focal point is a combo of Mistletoe Season (the greeting) and Timeless Tidings (the holly image). I stamped the greeting with Real Red, the image with Old Olive, then colored it in with my Blends.

To add some sparkle and shine, I brushed Wink of Stella on the leaves, and dotted each berry with the Fine Tip Glue Pen. That glue leaves a clear, raised dot that is, well, bumpy and textural!

On the inside, for more confusion (ha!) I stamped one of the sentiments from Dashing Deer in Real Red and a little holly leaf from Merry Christmas To All in Old Olive with dots of Real Red marker. I told you it was a hybrid!

One last look at the front of the card. As you can see, I layered the greeting piece with Layering Oval Framelits and tucked a bit of Real Red 3/8″ Mixed Satin Ribbon underneath.

As I type this up, I’m packing up the last of my things and heading to the airport. Orlando, here I come!

  1. Such a pretty, clean card Karen! Thanks for sharing and I wished I could have gotten one of them at OnStage! Wasn’t able to go this time but next year in Minneapolis, I’ll be there!!!

  2. Another beauty Karen. Simple and lovely!

  3. Totally a fun card! Love everything about it. Such wonderful details! The ribbon adds just a bit of spice to that side and it is perfect. Something I need to do more often when I place things to the side a bit which I prefer rather than just dead center. Plaid and dots just make me what to smile. Love the treatment to the berries – much, much cheaper than using the red rhinestones and probably easier when making bunches. The inside is just perfect as is the envelope. I don’t think I have a scalloped oval die so when I CASE this, I might use the stitched dies instead. But the whole card is really top notch with all those delicious layers. The Merry Christmas makes me smile too with that font. Love it! How many did you make to swap with? I bet you all are enjoying your self! I hope you share a bunch of your swaps with us who didn’t get to go.

  4. This card is beautiful. TFS. Enjoy you Orlando!

  5. Love this card. wish I were going!
