Splendid Autumn Box Card

I made another fun-fold card for Jeanie Stark’s Mystery Stamping this week! This time it’s a box fold and I created a continuous scene with Splendid Autumn DSP wrapping around four of the five sides.

Here’s the front view of the card:

If you’d like to try this fold, you can get the measurements and instructions from Jeanie’s pdf HERE. I added an extra 1″x 4″ strip of DSP to the right side of the box (not part of the original instructions) so that the DSP scene followed around the box and across the front.

Here’s the left side of the front:

You can see that the scene is continuous. It is broken into four pieces but the picture is intact. In order to do this you will need two matching pieces of the Splendid Autumn 6″x 6″ DSP.  Cut the first 6″x 6″ piece at 4″x 1″, 4″x 1-3/4″, and 4″x 3-1/4″ and glue them into place, leaving the right side of the box empty. Now cut the second 6″x 6″ piece at 4″x 1-3/4″and 4″x 1″, and glue the 1″ piece in that right side of the box. It isn’t perfect but it’s so close to a continuous picture that most people would be fooled! You’ll have some leftover pieces for another card, too.

Now for the back:

On the 5-1/4″x 4″ piece of Basic White, I stamped the sentiment from Branching Out Stamp Set in Gorgeous Grape and the leaves from the same stamp set in Cajun Craze and Crushed Curry. On the front I stamped Happiest Birthday Wishes in Gorgeous Grape onto the purple path. To finish it off, I added one Mossy Meadow Muted Palette Dot.

The box folds down flat to fit in an envelope and pops open to stand on a desk or bookshelf where everyone can admire the Autumn scene!

I’m looking forward to the Autumn colors to emerge, aren’t you? I’m afraid we have a while to wait. Our temps still feel like mid-summer, nearing 100 degrees every day. 🥵

I hope you have a blessed and relaxing weekend!
