Special Occasion Card for Pals August Blog Hop

Welcome to the Pals’ August Blog Hop! We’re so glad you’re here because we made some great projects for “Special Occasions”  – cards or projects that adds beauty to the special occasions we all love to make cards for! You may be starting the hop here or coming from a previous Pal’s blog. Either way, you’ve come to the right place. You’ll find the full line-up below to help you move, or “hop” along from Pal to Pal.

For my Special Occasion card, I’ve picked a wedding theme, although this card could also be used for a birthday or any other special occasion.

Paper

I’m using Magnolia Lane Designer Series Paper for the background, layered over Whisper White and Early Espresso cardstocks.

Ribbon

Before gluing the layers together, I ran a 7″ length of Magnolia Lane Ribbon across the center of the card and topped it with a double length of Mossy Meadow Linen Thread. You will find these two ribbons sold together in the Magnolia Lane Ribbon Combo Pack.

Stamp and Cut

First I stamped a sentiment from Woven Heirlooms Stamp Set to Whisper White Cardstock. I love to use this sentiment for wedding cards, birthday cards, and anniversary cards. Then I used the Stitched Be Mine Dies to cut it out in the shape of a heart. The stitched heart that creates the outline shape is cut from Early Espresso Cardstock. Last, I lifted the white heart up with Dimensionals.

The magnolia buds that you see here are part of the DSP and I cropped them out with the Magnolia Memory Dies. So easy! The leaves are also part of the same Die set and I used a combination of Mossy Meadow and Old Olive to cut them out.

Embellish

For the envelope, I ran the flap through the Big Shot using the Layered Leaves 3D embossing folder, then added a 1/4″ strip of coordinating DSP across the top.

For the finishing touch, I colored three tiny pearls with my Dark Petal Pink Blend marker.
