Southern Serenade Sympathy Card

Nobody wants to have to make a sympathy card, but when you need one, isn’t it nice that Stampin’ Up! supplies us with beautiful images to use? For example, this lovely flower image in Southern Serenade ~

This set comes in Clear-Mount or Wood-Mount red rubber.

I used Thick Whisper White, Blueberry Bushel, and Basic Black cardstock. I ran the Blueberry piece through the Big Shot with the Subtle Embossing Folder to give it a linen-like texture.

Measurements

Card Base: 5-1/2″ x 8-1/2″, scored at 4-1/4″ (Thick Whisper White)

Layer 1: 5-1/4″ x 4″ (Basic Black)

Layer 2: 5-1/8″ x 3-7/8″ (Blueberry Bushel)

Layer 3: 5-1/8″ x 2-1/2″ (Black)

Layer 4: 5-1/8″ x 2-1/4″ (White)

On the white top layer, I stamped the floral image with Blueberry Bushel ink, then used a Blender Pen to pull some of the blue color into the white petals. I colored the leaves with Granny Apple Green and my Blender Pen. Thick Whisper White is strong enough to hold up to the small amount of water in the Blender Pen without tearing. A small amount of blue bled into the green as I colored, but I liked the blending of the two colors, so I let it be.

My sentiment is found in Better Together. I stamped it on a 3/4″ x 4″ strip of Whisper White, backed it with a Blueberry Bushel strip that is 1/4″ wider, and popped it up with Dimensionals. The Dimensionals also serve as a means to attach a few loops of Silver Thread. To finish, I adhered three rhinestone jewels and painted Wink of Stella in the flower centers.

I lined my envelope with the Blueberry stripe from the 2018-20 In Color DSP stack.

Do you make several sympathy cards at once to have on hand? I think it’s a good idea, and this is one that could easily be made in multiples.
