I am having FUN with my new stamp set called Painted Harvest. It will be available for the general public on Sept. 1. This is a lovely set for autumn and I can’t wait for you to see it!
I was curious about sunflowers, so I googled it! They come in a variety of colors. So I picked six of them and attempted to replicate the colors. I think I came pretty close!
These are all 3″ x 3″ notes. I varied the colors of browns and layering to go with the colors in the flowers. Each layer is 1/8″ smaller than the one below it. I masked off the sunflower to stamp the leaves to look like they are behind the flower.
The sunflower and leaf stamps are two-step stamps, which I love for the 3-D effect it gives. The stamps are also stippled, so the coloring varies within the stamp – kind of a watercolor look.
Here they are, one by one ~
This flower is stamped first with Crushed Curry, then Cajun Craze over the top. The cardstock is Cajun Craze and Soft Suede under Whisper White, and the text + flower center are Soft Suede. The leaves are Pear Pizzazz.
This one is Cherry Cobbler and Early Espresso with Wild Wasabi leaves.
This one is Cherry Cobbler and Early Espresso cardstocks, Daffodil Delight and Cherry Cobbler sunflower, Wild Wasabi leaves, and Early Espresso text and flower center.
This has a Pumpkin Pie base with a Soft Suede layer, Daffodil Delight and Pumpkin Pie sunflower, Pear Pizzazz leaves, and Suede center and text.
This very normal sunflower has So Saffron and Crushed Curry with Soft Suede in the center and text, and Pear Pizzazz leaves. The cardstock layers are Curry and Suede.
This one was a surprise! Yes there really is a sunflower with Pink Pirouette and Berry Burst petals! I layered Berry Burst and Chocolate Chip cardstocks, stamped Chocolate Chip in the flower center and text, and stamped Wild Wasabi leaves.
On the inside, I stamped these little acorns and seeds in all of the cards.
So ~ which one is your favorite? I would love to know! Here is the collection again, with labels. Leave me a comment and tell me which one you like the best!
Look for this set in the 2017 Holiday Catalog on September 1st. I’m pretty sure you are going to love it as much as I do!
Check back on Friday to see how I package these cards up to create a little gift for someone ~
Have a grateful day!

Cherry Cobbler and Pumpkin Pie. It's just too hard to decide which of the two is my favorite. They are all great! I've been struggling if I should order this set. I think I need it! or at least want it!!! Great Job! Love them all.
What size is your white cardstock? I was thinking 2.5 x 2.5 but it seems too small. I was thinking your card base was 3×6 folded in half and then the next layer was 2.75 x 2.75. Am I wrong?
I got it it all on. I didn't think I would. Thanks for the inspiration. I chose the cherry cobbler and daffodil delight. I needed to make a bunch of quick cards.
Did you figure out the size then? My card bases are 3 x 3 when folded and the layers are each 1/8" less than the one underneath it, so the white cardstock is 2 3/4" square, or 2.75.
Up above it says the layers are 1/4" each so I did the white 2.5 but it worked. I also made them open from the side instead of the top. They turned out cute and I am happy with them. Thanks for all your help and inspiration.
Thanks for pointing that out, Tara! The white layer is 1/4" smaller than the base. My mistake! I'm going to go in and adjust that now. I'm glad it worked for you. I can see where that might be a little tight!
These are wonderful! I hope you don't mind if I case as they would be perfect as little place settings at my church's Thanksgiving meal. There would be a card at each seat.
I don't mind at all. In fact, I'm honored! They sound perfect for your church meal!
Also how long a piece of linen thread did you use if you remember?
I don't remember, but tie the first bow without cutting the Linen Thread to get the size you want, then cut it and measure it for the rest of the bows. I hope that helps!
Is it hard to mask these for the leaves since there isn't a tab on the one sunflower stamp and it's a two step process? It looks great with the leaves behind.
It isn't hard, Tara, but you do have to hand cut another sunflower out to use for the mask, so it takes a little time to prepare. I used a Post-it note and the largest flower stamp for my mask. Even if all the little points don't match up perfectly, it still looks good.
Thanks for your help 🙂
