Simple Saturday Garden Birdhouses

Happy Saturday! I hope your week was a good one! I had a few fun birthday celebrations! 🙂 Thank you all for your sweet birthday wishes! I have a simple card to share with you today. It’s a one layer card, simple stamping, simpler coloring, and a bit of scoring to act as a “frame.” Simple Saturday Garden Birdhouses.

Isn’t it sweet? This stamp set is new to me. I love its sketchy art and birdhouses are always so cheerful. I saw just now that it is currently unavailable (I guess others loved it too!) but it will carry over to our new Annual Catalog which makes me very happy! Here is the image of the stamp set~

GARDEN BIRDHOUSES PHOTOPOLYMER STAMP SET (ENGLISH)

So cute! Here is how simple my card went together.

garden birdhouses, coloring with blends, one layer card, stampin up, karen hallam

Details:
  • Misty Moonlight Cardstock (soon to retire!), 8-12/”x 5-1/2″, scored and folded at 4-1/4″
  • Basic White Cardstock, 5-1/4″x 4″
  • Stamp Garden Birdhouses images with Memento Tuxedo Black ink
  • Color with Blends (or your favorite medium)
Directions:
  • With a scoring tool (Simply Scored, Paper Trimmer, etc.) score the edges of the white panel 1/4″ in from each side, then again at 3/8″ in from each side.
  • Stamp the branches twice as shown, staying within the scored “frame.”
  • Then stamp the birdhouse and hanger.
  • Next stamp the birds.
  • Finally stamp the two leafy bits to the left of the house.
  • Color with Blends, Watercolor Pencils, or a Blender Pen and ink pads ~ whichever you enjoy using the most!
  • Stamp “Welcome” in Misty Moonlight in the center.
  • Glue the art panel to the card base.

This card goes together in a matter of minutes. The coloring is quick because of the cute sketchy art. The scored lines creating a frame around the stamping is a technique that I learned from my friend and original team leader, Susan Itell. It’s a fun and easy technique that draws your eye right to the stamping inside the lines. A visual “frame” if you will!

Have a wonderful weekend! I’m getting ready to go pick up my daughter from the airport. She’s flying in from Portland for the weekend. Can’t wait to see her!
