I thought I’d try a white and silver card today. It turned out super sparkly ~ much more than the camera captured. I love it! But there are some tricks to working with Foil Sheets and Glimmer Paper. I thought you might like to hear what I learned from this card!
First of all, you do not want to use a full 5 1/4″ x 4″ piece of Glimmer Paper behind your top layer. There are 2 reasons: first of all you wouldn’t want to waste all that sparkly goodness hidden by another piece of paper! Second, if you cut the middle out of the Glimmer Paper, it gives you something to adhere the white paper to. All that glitter tends to resist adhesive! So I cut out a 4″ x 3″ rectangle out of the middle to use on another project.
The white embossed paper I used is from the Irresistibly Floral Specialty DSP. I left it uncolored for a white-on-white look. This 5″ x 3 3/4″ piece is attached to the Whisper White base card with Dimensionals.
Another thing I learned is that it is very difficult to glue anything to Silver Foil paper. I found that the Fine-tip Glue Pen worked the best to adhere the tiny little stars punched from Silver Glimmer Paper with the Confetti Stars Border Punch to the Silver Foil Wreath. But you need to have time to let it dry. Glue it and walk away for 15-20 minutes. I also glued the Glimmer bow to the wreath with the Fine-tip Glue Pen as well as the White Perfect Accent dot to the bow.
I cut Dimensionals into narrow strips and adhered the word, Joy, to the white DSP with them.
If you want to avoid glitter getting ground into your Big Shot cutting pads, use a piece of copy paper between your Glimmer paper and cutting pad. I also used a piece of copy paper over the foil sheet to avoid getting unwanted creases from my used cutting pad embedded into the foil.
I hope you learned some new procedures from my tips today! The metallic look is beautiful but it is a bit tricky to work with. Fortunately, Stampin’ Up! sells a variety of adhesives, and I was sure I would find one that works on this paper.

Karen, I love this card! I will have to pull out the Irresistibly Floral DSP. It works so well here! And I do have a love hate with the fine tip glue pen! It is solid as a rock when dry but, agog, to have to wait!!!!!
I know! It calls for patience! I glued, then went in and watched some of the Cubs/Blue Jays game. Before I knew it, it was dry and solid! I get a lot of stamping done during baseball season (lol!)
