Potted Geraniums

We’re starting off the new year with a color challenge at Create With Connie & Mary. Today’s challenge is Sweet Sorbet, Balmy Blue, and Mint Macaron. I pulled out a bundle from the Annual Catalog that’s fairly new to me, Potted Geraniums, and decided it was time to ink them up!

We have geraniums growing in our backyard. They do really well in this climate. Many other flowers we’ve tried back there did not survive, but these thrived! And several of them are the color of Sweet Sorbet. The leaves in real life are much darker, but today they are a minty blue-green! 🙂

Cuts & Crops:
  • Sweet Sorbet Cardstock base, 8-1/2″x 5-1/2″, scored and folded at 4-1/4″
  • Basic White, two at 5-1/4″x 4″, one at 4-1/2″x 3″ cropped with Deckled Rectangle Dies, and scraps for stamping pot, dirt, and plant stick to be cropped with Geranium Dies
  • Country Gingham 6″x 6″ DSP in Sweet Sorbet, 5-1/8″x 3-7/8″ and 2-3/8″x 3/8″ for strip under pot
Putting It Together:
  • Glue the Country Gingham DSP layer to the Basic White layer, then to the card base.
  • On the 4-1/2″x 3″ piece of Basic White, stamp the geranium leaves with Mint Macaron and Soft Succulent.
  • On the white scraps, stamp the pot in Balmy Blue (2-step stamping), the dirt in Soft Suede, and the plant stick in Soft Suede. Stamp “Friend” on the stick using Sweet Sorbet. Cut the three pieces out using the Geranium Dies.
  • Glue the strip of Gingham at the bottom of the white layer to give the pot something to sit on!
  • Adhere the dirt behind the pot using Dimensionals. Add the stick to the Dimensionals on the back of the pot and put one Mini Dimensional behind the sign. Adhere these to the card front.
  • Crop out two Sweet Sorbet Geranium flowers, glue them together and then to the front.
  • Put Dimensionals on the back of the Deckled white layer and adhere to the front of the card.
  • Glue the second 5-1/4″x 4″ piece of white to the inside.
