Perfectly Penciled & Lovely

Hi there! It’s a color challenge today at Create With Connie & Mary, and we have this pretty combination to work with. I decided to pair Lovely & Lasting with Perfectly Penciled. Add them together and you get Perfectly Penciled & Lovely!

Here’s my card ~

If you recall, Perfectly Penciled DSP is all black and white. I took our three colors in the challenge and colored the flowers and leaves with Light Orchid Oasis, Light Pear Pizzazz, and Light So Saffron Blends.

This coloring may look laborious to you, but I want to tell you – it was the easiest coloring I’ve done with Blends! I only used the light shades of the three colors and just plain colored them. The paper has shading so you don’t have to! Doesn’t it look like I took the time to shade each leaf and petal? Nope. Straight coloring. My kind of coloring! 🙂

You can’t really tell, but I also heat embossed the sentiment. I’ll tell you why. Before I heat embossed it with Clear Emboss Powder, the print was fine and faint. The Clear Emboss Powder kicks it up a notch and it becomes much more prominent.

  1. A beautiful card, Karen! This bundle wasn’t on my list but sure is now… thank you for “opening my eyes”! đź‘Ť

  2. What a fabulous card! Easy too. Thanks for the inspiration!

  3. OMG I love this. One of my favorite color combos. I love coloring black and whit papers. Did you emboss the sentiment and the dotted part and the outline too with the Happy birthday? I am sitting with my FIL on Monday while his wife is having cataract surgery. I think I need to take this paper and some blends and color away. This punch bundle is on my “A” list so now I definitely moved it up on my list. I don’t have the stitched greenery die so will just improvise with something else but I am sure I will love it. Thanks Karen for some lovely inspiration!

    • I only embossed the words, Chris. The dots and outline came out pretty dark without embossing. The “Happy Birthday” was less vibrant, so that’s why I decided to emboss it. Made a big difference. Thanks for asking!
