Peek-a-Boo Little Fox!

My assignment, should I choose to accept it (Who am I kidding?! Of course I will!) is to make a baby card for a baby shower. The baby is a boy and they are a very outdoorsy family — lots of camping and outdoor adventures. So the card should be woodsy…

Foxy Friends!  Perfect fit!

This little fox is adorable! And with the Peek-a-boo sentiment from Suite Sayings, I had to make him peeking through a hole.

I experimented a little and found out that it’s important to cut the hole through the two pieces of cardstock BEFORE putting it through the Big Shot with the embossing folder. (The other way flattens out the embossing and kind of ruins the effect!)

Line up the Crumb Cake piece to the front of the white cardstock base, then carefully open it up, and run both pieces through the Big Shot with the circle framelit in place.

Next, run the Crumb Cake piece through the Big Shot with the Woodland Textured Embossing Folder. Then glue the Crumb Cake piece to the white base, lining up the holes.

With the same circle framelit and the slightly bigger scalloped circle framelit, cut a decorative circle out with Garden Green cardstock.  Glue it to the top of the card, lining it up with the cut out circle.

Now for the inside:

Stamp and cut out three trees from the Foxy Friends stamp set and the Perfect Pines Framelits. The large one is Garden Green and the two smaller ones are Wild Wasabi.

Stamp and cut out the fox with the Fox Builder Punch (bundled with Foxy Friends for a 10% discount!) I used Watermelon Wonder Classic Stampin’ Pad for the fox and mushroom. 

It’s pretty critical to stamp and cut out all these pieces first, lay them on the inside of the card where you think you might want them, then close the card and see where they are in relation to the hole! Repositional tape is a very handy tool for this! Adjust it to your liking, then open it back up.

Once I knew where I wanted the fox to sit, I marked under his “feet” with a pencil, then stamped the tree stump directly to the card. I used Chocolate Chip for the stump.  The little rows of grass are from Sheltering Tree. I stamped three rows with Wild Wasabi.

The plants and mushroom are stamped and fussy cut, then glued directly to the card. I glued the three trees in the background, positioning them again by looking through the hole in the front. I glued the fox’s tail to his body, then glued it down to the card. I put dimensionals under his head and attached it to the body. “Congratulations” is from Made With Love. I stamped it right to the card using Memento Tuxedo Black ink.

I decided to cover the back of the card with an embossed woodsy piece of cardstock as well. This was inspired out of necessity! Don’t tell anyone, but somehow ink got smeared on the back of the card after all this work, so I had to get real creative! OMG! But it’s kind of cute, don’t you think? Sometimes our mistakes turn out to be for the best!!

I also embossed the back flap of the envelope to tie it all together. I love the way the card turned out! 

Card signed, sealed, and delivered. I know it will be appreciated, so it was a labor of love!
