Pears For the Wedding Pair

OK, so a request for a Wedding Shower card with pears on it may only happen once in a lifetime…if ever!
My friend asked me to make a wedding card for her friends who are pear farmers. What a fun challenge! My thoughts went right to our Tutti-Frutti DSP with the pears and apples on it and this is what I created ~

Here’s a closer look at the Sweet Soiree cake. I stamped it with So Saffron ink, cropped it with the Sweet Cake Thinlits Dies and sparkled it up with Wink of Stella. I stamped three pears from the Fruit Basket stamp set and punched them out with the coordinating punch in the Bundle. The sentiment is from the Petal Palette stamp set.
On the inside, a couple more pears for the pair ~
If you are not familiar with the Tutti-Frutti DSP, here are all the fun prints that come with it. The sheets are 6″ x 6″ and you get 48 double-sided sheets in the pack for $10. The prints are so fun! See what I did with more of them HERE, HERE, and HERE.
However, Jess chose this “more subtle” option, using mostly retired products. I had to give her a choice, but I’m going to give her both cards, because I am fairly certain I will never have an occasion to use a pear-themed wedding card again!

I think it would be easier to name the products that have NOT retired on this card! First of all, both options are made on Whisper White Note Cards with Envelopes. I have a layer of Soft Suede under the DSP, and the three colors of leaves – Pear Pizzazz, Soft Suede, and Gold Foil – were punched with our Leaf Punch. The sentiment circle was cut using Stitched Shapes Framelits and layered onto a Soft Suede scalloped circle from Layering Circles Framelits.
And here is a closer look at the layering of the sentiment and leaves~
So ~ you may never have the need to make a wedding card with pears on it, but hopefully my pictures will spark some ideas for you to create cards for other occasions! The whole point is to just have fun and go for it!

Hallam Adventures

My daughter is home from college for a week and we went up to the top of Mt. Diablo yesterday to catch some gorgeous vistas. If you live in Northern California, you are familiar with Mt. Diablo. If not, it is a 3,849′ peak east of the San Francisco Bay area with spectacular views at the top. We did not hike up the mountain (although you can, but yikes!), instead we drove up and hiked around the top. There was a North wind blowing and it was crystal clear from up there. We could see Mt. Shasta to the NE, the Golden Gate Bridge and SF to the west, and the snow-laden Sierra Nevada Range to the east. I’ve lived in Nor Cal most of my life and have seen Mt. Diablo from the bottom but this was my first time up to the top. What a treat! My iPhone couldn’t capture the distant views but with binoculars we could see forever!
If you’re interested, look up Mt. Diablo in Google and look at the images. There are some gorgeous photos of the mountain from the top and bottom.
