Today I have a card that I’m calling Peaceful Cabin Spotlight Card. I used Peaceful Place Designer Series Paper to “spotlight” one of the cabins in this beautiful black/white/gray/silver paper.
My inspiration for building this card is The Paper Players challenge this week, using these four colors. Here is their inspiration photo:
I think perhaps the designer who created this challenge had this DSP in mind! Just maybe…?!
Card Recipe:
- Basic Gray Cardstock base: 8-1/2″x 5-1/2″, scored and folded at 4-1/4″
- Basic Black Cardstock layer: 5-1/8″x 3-7/8″
- Peaceful Place DSP, check pattern: 5″x 3-3/4″
- Basic Black Cardstock layer: 3-3/4″x 2-5/8″
- DSP, evergreen forest print: 3-5/8″x 2-3/8″
- Basic Black Cardstock: 2-3/8 circle cut with Layering Circles Dies
- DSP, Cabin print: 2-1/8″ circle cut with Layering Circles Dies
- Peace die (retired SU): (2) with Silver Foil and Snowy White Velvet Sheet
- Silver Thread (retired SU) wrapped 5 X’s and tied in a bow
- Rhinestone Basic Jewels
My intention was to make it look like the cabin was nestled in an evergreen forest. Did I succeed? In the light, the silver foil and rhinestone give a beautiful shine that gives a bit of elegance to the card. On the inside ~
(2) 1/2″ strips of coordinating DSP and this sentiment from So Many Stars (retired SU) in Basic Gray on Basic White Cardstock measuring 5-1/4″x 4″.
This scene is very peaceful, don’t you think? I wouldn’t mind being snuggled up in a blanket beside a fireplace inside this cabin, surrounded by snow and winter beauty! Where is your peaceful place?
Have a good day! See you back here again soon ~

Karen your card is almost like looking through a telescope into the snowy forest – and then there’s the cabin! Love the sharp black borders – great definition. Thanks for playing along with my colour challenge over at The Paper Players this week!
This is so pretty! I love the warm cozy feeling of the cabin and the plaid paper! The silver sentiment and bow really kick it up a notch! Thanks for playing with the Players this week!
This is beautiful, Karen. I love this buffalo check and how you used the DSP. Perfect use of the colors this week. Thank you for joining us at the Paper Players.
Nice job Karen. I was wondering how to use this DSP. Haven’t touched it yet!
Beautiful card.
