Welcome to the Stampin’ Pretty Pals’ Blog Hop!
This month, the theme is “Love Is In The Air.” We hope that you will be inspired by the creations the Pals are sharing with you! Then, you will find the lineup at the end of my post to help you “hop” along from Pal to Pal.
Love is literally “in the air” with this Hot Air Balloon Valentine! Read about a new technique I came up with and all the tips and tools you’ll need to make this card.
Starting with a base card of Real Red, I glued a 5-1/4″x 4″ panel of Boho Blue DSP from Flight & Airy (Sale-a-Bration 2024).
New Technique?
I don’t actually know if anyone has ever done this “cloud” technique before. As far as I know, I made it up! I took a cotton ball and dabbed it into a pad of white Craft Ink, then dabbed it onto the paper in cloud-like shapes. Before the ink dried, I sprinkled white embossing powder over it, then heat embossed it with a Heat Tool. It left slightly shiny patches of clouds on the paper – the wispy Cirrus clouds that you might see on a summer day.
For the Hot Air Balloons:
- Most Adored Specialty DSP
- Gold Foil
- Gold Embossing Powder on Basic White for the heart balloon’s basket
- Hot Air Balloons Bundle
The Sentiment:
- From Share a Milkshake with Versamark ink and gold embossing onto Basic White Cardstock
- Cropped with a Hot Air Balloon die
Finishing Touches:
- Three small hearts from Most Adored Specialty DSP, punched with Bee Builder Punch
- Three pink enamel hearts from the Bee Mine Suite
- Red Most Adored DSP for envelope flap, 2-1/4″x 6″, trimmed to fit
More inspiration awaits, so use the lineup below to visit the rest of the Design Team. Then, please mark your calendars for our next blog hop next month, when our theme will be “It’s All About The Kids.”
Until then, have fun in your craft space.

Karen, these are the prettiest hot air balloons I’ve seen. Your card is beautiful!
Thanks, Debbie!
Love is in the air, indeed! Love the clouds. I have done the Dabbing of the white but not embossed it. Such a fun touch. Things are looking up here as Teddy is feeling much better. He was very sick over the weekend. Going to the vet for a check up to make sure everything is ok. Love the card.
Thanks, Chris! Hoping Teddy is back to his normal self soon! Happy Valentine’s Day!
Awesome clouds, Karen! Thank you for sharing your technique!
