My first Snow Front

I titled this post “My first Snow Front” because I know I’m going to be playing with this one often and each one will be different!

If you want to feel like an artist, this is the set for you! There are lots of stamps in this set that go together to create scenes, but the possibilities are limited only by your imagination.

I have loved Waterfront (click here to see one of my cards) and now I’m loving Snow Front. See that sun peeking over the mountain? It’s from Waterfront. Here are the images for Snow Front.

My card today is about the simplest form there is. Stamps, ink, and paper. If stamp sets like this intimidate you, I have a few suggestions for you.

Try This

First, open the set and stamp every stamp onto a piece of scratch paper. Try different colors of ink. Choose three or four colors that look good to you, open them up, and start stamping out a scene. Your first one, like mine, may not be your favorite! I turned mine over and started again!

Use Perspective

I like to start with the large stamps first, in this case the mountains. If you want the large tree to be the focal point, start with it, then position the smaller stamps around it. Keep perspective in mind. Things in the front might need to be taller than the ones in the back because they are closer to you, the viewer. Make sense? Also, use some stamps full strength, and some stamped off once to add depth. Play with it and play with it some more. I bet you will love the scenes you come up with as much as I do!

Snow Front, Itty Bitty Christmas, winter scene card idea, Stampin Up, Karen Hallam, stampinup

There are no sentiments with Snow Front, but I found this one in Itty Bitty Christmas and I think it sums up the feeling created by the scene quite nicely. And I love those little deer!

One more tip… I took a Basic Black Stampin’ Write Marker and colored in the snowman’s hat. Then I added orange to his nose. It just felt like the right thing to do!

I would love to see what you do with this set. Please post your pictures and let me know about it. You will be pleased to discover the artist inside you!

Enjoy the rest of your week ~
