Mistletoe Season

One week from today, you can begin ordering from the Stampin’ Up! 2018 Holiday Catalog, which is super exciting!

But today I have a card that I made using products from the Holidays section in the Annual Catalog. On page 95, you will find this stamp set, called Mistletoe Season. There is also the Under the Mistletoe Designer Series Paper, Real Red 3/8″ Ribbon, and Red Rhinestone Basic Jewels, all of which you will see on this card ~

I absolutely love a Christmas plaid, and this one is perfect! It shows Real Red, Old Olive, Whisper White, and the tiniest stripe of Basic Black. I cut it to 4″ x 2″, glued it to the Whisper White layer that measures 4″ x 5-1/4″, and added a 1/4″ strip of Old Olive to cover up the seam.

Merry Christmas just fits into a Stitched Shape Oval Framelit. I layered it over white Glimmer Paper for the sparkle that every good Christmas card needs!

Now let’s talk about that mistletoe stamp. Actually, stamps, because I layered two images, one on top of the other. Both sprigs of mistletoe look great on their own, but when you put them together it just makes it look like a fatter bunch and I love that! Here’s a look at the stamp set ~

At first, I thought maybe the two mistletoe stamps fit on top of each other like the two-step stamps do. And although they don’t fit together, they do go nicely together to create a fuller bunch. Now, about the bow ~

The bow IS a two-step stamp and I love how it creates a beautiful image. But I really wanted something a bit wider on my mistletoe sprig, so I added the ribbon over the top of the bow. It fills up the white space nicely and that makes me happy 🙂 I know it’s different, but I’m rolling with it! The 3 berries are a stamp, then I added the red rhinestones over them for extra sparkle and dimension.

Yes, it’s still only August. Christmas is the farthest thing from my mind. But if I make and post one holiday card each week between now and December, I may have most of my cards made by the time I need them! This one was fun – not too fussy, easy to stamp and put together…my kind of card! I hope you like it too!

Enjoy the rest of your week! Please join me in this stamping habit! Shop HERE.

  1. Hi Karen, You had me with the title. I lover mistletoe and have such fond memories of growing up and my parents. Ha. Ha. The colors look great and I too like plaids. This is a great stamp-set that I overlooked. Hmmm . . . I’ll have to go back.
    Happy Hump Day.
    🙂
