Love of Leaves in Mango & Merlot

Today ends my Sketch Week #2. Did anyone try this sketch? I would love to see a photo if you did! Here is my first card and here is my second. This time I turned the sketch on its side, which gives it a whole new look! I used Love of Leaves in Mango & Merlot (and Basic Gray.)

Here’s one last look at the sketch I used to inspire my creativity. Tip your head to the left!

Plaid Tidings 6″x 6″ Designer Series Paper has this rich Merry Merlot plaid with a skinny stripe of Mango Melody in it. I played up the Mango with the matting and two of the leaves. The third leaf is Basic Gray which pulls out the bit of gray in the paper. I love this color combination!

Can you see the texture in the Merry Merlot card base? I ran it through my machine with the Subtle 3D Embossing Folder. It adds a lot of interest!

The leaves are from the Love of Leaves Bundle. The tiny “hello” stamp is from that same stamp set.

On the inside, I stamped one leaf in Mango Melody and the other in 2nd generation Merry Merlot.

To finish it off, I added a tiny bow using the Gold Trim from the Forever Greenery Trim Combo Pack.

If you send me a picture of your take on this sketch, I would love to share it on my blog! Send a good photo to karenshallam@gmail.com. Put Sketch Week #2 in the subject line. Don’t forget to give me your name so I can properly credit you!

Have a wonderful weekend!

  1. No time to play in my craft room for now but I love this pretty fall creation & plan to use this design as soon as I can play again. Thanks for sharing, Karen!

  2. Pretty in plaid. I have no idea why I don’t use my embossing folders more. It adds texture and richness to the card. I like this sketch, I need to try it.
