Let’s Set Sail

This week is a color challenge at Create with Connie & Mary. Let’s Set Sail and sail through this challenge!

Our colors are Daffodil Delight (for my sunrise), Tahitian Tide (for my ocean), and Starry Sky (for my sky). I blended these colors onto a panel of Basic White with Blending Brushes to create a scene for my sailboat.

let's set sail, oceanfront, ccmc718, ink blending technique, stampin up, karen hallam

Materials & Measurements:
  • Thick Basic White card base, 11″x 4-1/4″, scored and folded at 5-1/2″
  • Starry Sky Cardstock layer, 5-1/4″x 4″
  • Basic White Cardstock for art panel, 5-1/8″x 3-7/8″
  • Basic White Cardstock scrap for sailboat
Directions:
  • Mask off an area about 1-1/4″ above the bottom using low-tack masking tape.
  • Using a Blending Brush, brush Tahitian Tide ink onto the lower section of the paper.
  • Remove the masking tape and reposition it to cover the Tahitian Tide portion.
  • Blend Daffodil Delight ink from the masking tape up about an inch, fading the color as you brush up.
  • Starting at the top of the paper, blend Starry Sky ink down to the yellow, using a heavier hand at the top and fading it down to blend into the yellow.
  • Remove the masking tape and stamp the water texture with Tahitian Tide and the stamp from Oceanfront.
  • Stamp the sentiment from Let’s Set Sail and Starry Sky ink toward the top right corner.
  • Stamp the sailboat with Starry Sky ink onto Basic White Cardstock and punch it out with the Sailboat Builder Punch.
  • Glue the boat/mast/flag piece toward the left side of the card. Stamp the birds to the right and left of the boat, also with Starry Sky ink.
  • Place Dimensionals behind the sails and position them to the right and left of the mast.

Now head over to Create with Connie & Mary to see what the rest of the design team has made with these colors! Have a great day ~ Hope it’s your BEST. DAY. EVER. !

  1. How did you make the water look so real? I see bubbles that actually look like movement. Amazing!

    • My magic touch! Lol! It was the stamp from Oceanfront, stamped right over my blended color – both in Tahitian Tide.
      Thanks, Bobbi!

Beautifully done card! Your blending just looks like you are sitting on the shore watching the sail boat gently move across the waters. Fabulous!

  3. Michelle Gleeson
