It’s a Beautiful Day for a Blog Hop!

Welcome to the Pals March 2018 Blog Hop. Our theme this month is “Spring has Sprung”. The Stampin’ Pretty Pals will inspire you with Spring or Spring-related projects. You may see floral, Easter or other general Spring-inspired designs. You may be just starting or hopped over from another Pal. In either case you’ll find the line-up toward the end of my post to help you move along.
I have two cards to share with you today, both using the butterfly in Beautiful Day, one in blues/greens and the other in pinks/corals. Which one do you like best?
butterfly, spring card, heat embossing, stampin blends, alcohol markers, stampin up, karen hallam, stampinup
In this first one, I stamped the butterfly onto thick Whisper White cardstock with Versamark Ink, sprinkled white embossing powder on it, and heat set it. When dry, I colored in the butterfly with my Stampin’ Blends – Night of Navy, Daffodil Delight, Old Olive, and Bermuda Bay – then cut it out with my Paper Snips scissors.
After coloring it, I discovered that it had pretty much the same shades that are in the Naturally Eclectic Designer Series Paper, so I used two of the sheets as my background, divided by a narrow 1/8″ Bermuda Bay shimmer ribbon (a 2018 Sale-A-Bration free item). I anchored the butterfly with Stampin’ Dimensionals over a nest of silver Metallic Thread, then finished it with one Perfect White Accent on the butterfly and three self-adhesive sequins from the Tutti-Frutti suite. The sentiment is half of one from Beautiful Day, masked off and stamped with Night of Navy. I used my trusty Stamp-a-ma-jig to make sure it wasn’t crooked!

For my second card, I stamped and heat set the butterfly with Gold Embossing Powder and colored it with Calypso Coral, Pumpkin Pie, Rich Razzleberry, and Daffodil Delight Stampin’ Blends. For my background paper on this one I chose one of the prints from Painted With Love Specialty DSP. The gold foil accents on the paper look beautiful with the gold embossing on the butterfly. It is glued to a Flirty Flamingo base card with a layer of Gold Foil.
I finished this one off with a folded length of Powder Pink ribbon and a gold Faceted Gem.
Here is the whole stamp set – Beautiful Day, item #145912 for Wood-Mount and #145915 for Clear-Mount.
