This week at Create With Stamping Friends we have a color challenge. And I did something different this week. I didn’t use any DSP! Instead I stripped it up with cardstock of the three colors below and ended up making a very clean and simple card using Irresistible Blooms “Thank You.” I’d love to hear your reaction to it!
Here’s our color challenge:
And here’s my card:
Easy Assembly:
- I cut strips of cardstock in Night of Navy, Lemon Lolly, and Peach Pie in different widths (nothing calculated, just random cuts).
- On a piece of Basic White, 5″x 3-3/4″, I glued the strips at an angle across the middle. After filling the space that I wanted, I turned it over and cut off the excess cardstock on each side.
- Then I glued that to a piece of Night of Navy measuring 5-1/8″x 3-3/8″.
- I glued that to the card front. The card base is Thick Basic White, 8-1/2″x 5-1/2″, folded at 4-1/4.
- Irresistible Blooms Dies have this cool circular die, almost bird’s nest-y. But it doesn’t cut out as a stand alone circle, it just cuts into the paper. The simple thing to do would be to find a circle die that is about 3-1/2″ in diameter. But… my dies are still in storage, so I hand cut around the nest-like shape. It’s perfectly un-perfect! Know what I mean?
- I cut another one from Basic White and used the center for my sentiment, then puzzled it together with the blue one. With a little glue behind the white and dots of glue behind select spots on the “nest”, I adhered it to the front of my card.
It’s a very clean card. You may or may not like this style. I enjoy all kinds of card styles, but I really like the simplicity of this one. Give me your thoughts!
I used this same “nest” die in a slightly different way on THIS card. Check it out!
We still have more to see! Go to Create With Stamping Friends and see what the others have made with these colors!
Until next week,
