During February in Northern California, we get the most beautiful bloom on the Acacia trees! This one is directly across the street from us, so we get to enjoy the view for about half a month before the color fades out. It was the inspiration for my Inspiring Canopy birthday card.
So pretty! I needed a birthday card for a friend of mine, so this seemed quite appropriate!
Card Details:
- Misty Moonlight Cardstock base, 8-1/2″x 5-1/2″, scored and folded at 4-1/4″
- Beauty of the Earth DSP for the sky, 5-1/4″x 4″
- Soft Suede from the 2021 6″x 6″ DSP pack for the brown hill
- You’re a Peach DSP for the grass, middle section
- Pattern Party DSP, Granny Apple Green for the bottom layer of grass
- Beauty of the Earth DSP for the tree trunks
- Daffodil Delight, So Saffron, and Granny Apple Green Cardstock for the blooms & leaves
- Sentiment from Waves of the Ocean Stamp Set (available March 1st), stamped with Early Espresso on Basic White Cardstock
- Brown Baker’s Twine
To create the canopy of yellow and green, I die cut each of the four leaf dies from each color – Daffodil Delight, So Saffron, and Granny Apple Green, and layered them over the branches.
I lifted the sentiment strip up off the card with an Adhesive Strip, leaving a gap where it would sit over the knot. (Most helpful hint!!!)
This card also qualifies for the Festive Friday Challenge this week! I brought in Brown, Texture, Neutrals, and Twine to fit the challenge. Here is their inspirational board:
