For Create With Connie & Mary this week, we have a sketch for inspiration. I took that big white space as an invitation to use a larger stamp that I could color. I chose In The Moment. Here’s our sketch:
And here’s my card:
I colored the image with a combination of Watercolor Pencils + Blender Pen with Stampin’ Blends, then paper pieced her pajamas with some of the DSP I used behind the white panel.
Here are the measurements:
- Pretty Peacock Cardstock base, 8-1/2″x 5-1/2″, folded at 4-1/4″
- Perennial Lavender DSP, three strips at 1″x 3-1/2″
- Basic White Cardstock, 4-1/2″x 2-3/4″
- Crumb Cake Cardstock, 2″x 3/4″
The process:
- Glue the three DSP strips to the card base, beginning about 1/4″ from the left side.
- Stamp and color the white piece on the right side using black ink, Watercolor Pencils, and Blends.
- Cut a point on the right end of the Crumb Cake piece. Stamp “Relax” from In The Moment using black ink. I isolated the one word on the stamp by masking off the part I didn’t want using low-tack masking tape. Glue it to the white piece, with the left side hanging off by about 1/4″.
- Put Dimensionals on the back of the white piece, including one behind the Crumb Cake banner, and adhere it to the card front.
- Add three Iridescent Foil Gems.
- For the girl’s pajama legs, stamp a small piece of the same DSP with that portion of the image using black ink, then cut out the pajamas using Paper Snips. Glue the paper piece over the top of the original stamped image, matching all edges. I think it’s really fun to pull the DSP into the image with “paper piecing.”
Does this make you want to crawl under the covers with a good book and a cuddly puppy? Yeah, me too! 🙂 Today’s a gray rainy day in Granite Bay, so this looks very inviting!

Great card! I love the look of the paper piecing on the pajama pants!
Thanks, Alicia!
