Humming Along with Mosaic Mood

Happy Monday everyone! And Happy Memorial Day! I am heading back home as you read this, after a fun filled weekend with my daughter and grandson. Couldn’t have been better! I hope you enjoyed your weekend as well.

I am featuring one of the new Designer Series Papers today from the Mosaic Mood Specialty pack. It is total eye candy! This tile pattern looks like little individual tiles glued to the paper. They are shiny and bright and completely delightful! This is one of the papers that you can sample from my DSP Share. Click HERE to see the offer.

With the hummingbird image, my card fits into the Global Design Project challenge theme for the week, which is Bees, Birds & Butterflies. Here is the banner for #GDP191:

I prefer to make one of a kind cards, tailored to the recipient’s personality or hobbies, etc. rather than mass-produce batches of cards. It’s just the way I roll. This card is going to my sister-in-law. While I was back in Minnesota, we went to their cabin up north. The hummingbirds were all over their porch feeders. Did you know they are very territorial and will fight each other to stake their claim? I didn’t! Did you know they have a LOUD buzz that sounds like a gigantic bee? Neither did I! She and my brother love watching their hummingbirds, so that’s the back story to this card. 🙂

I stamped this hummingbird from Humming Along (retiring June 3) with Memento ink on Whisper White, colored it with Blends markers and cropped it out with the coordinating framelit die (also retiring.)

I picked my Blends colors to go with the tile mosaic, so chose Calypso Coral, Smoky Slate, Light Night of Navy, and a titch of light Cajun Craze. Although you can’t see it, I added Wink of Stella on its blue head for some subtle sparkle.

For the sentiment, I used Humming Along and Hummingbird Framelit Dies. I cut two labels – one in white for the sentiment, and Basic Gray for the layer. It’s cut lengthwise and stretched up and down on the back, then I had to piece the sides together.

I decided to leave the design very simple, because the mosaic pattern is glitzy enough without any other additions. I did have one small piece of DSP left over from my 5-1/4″ x 4″ cut, so I glued it to the inside to add a little something to the white card.

There is one more week to pick up this Humming Along stamp set and Hummingbird Framelits Dies. They retire on Tuesday, June 3rd. The DSP however will not be available till June 4 in the new Annual Catalog. Got your Wish List going? I have mine!
