Hey, Can’t Wait to See You!

I just got back from a Crafting Cruise from Seattle to Alaska! When we weren’t out whale-watching or chasing bears, you might have found us up in the Conference Room at the aft of the ship! Patty Bennett and Kurstan del Rosario hosted a fabulous cruise this past week. Shila Froehlich and I went together and had a blast!

One of the crafting tables was set up to use the Turtle-y Cute Suite. This isn’t a bundle that I had purchased before, so it was fun to play with. The card below is a version of one of their designs. I changed the turtle and sentiments to go with it, but the layout is the same:

Recipe:

• Embossed Designs Mix & Match Specialty Card & Envelope
• Turtle-y Cute DSP, three strips of various designs, 1″x 4″ with the short edges torn
• Basic White Cardstock large circle cropped from Spotlight on Nature Dies
• Stamps: Charming Day, Scenic Adventure
• Ink: Shaded Spruce
• Turtle-y Cute DSP, fussy cut one turtle and two flowers
  • Adhere turtle with Dimensionals and flowers with glue.
  • Add three green hexagon sequins.

I love the little bird looking into the turtle’s binoculars!

I cut the head of one more turtle from the perimeter of the paper and glued it on above the words. If the edges of your DSP don’t have a full image of something, this is a fun way to use those partial images. Why just throw it away?!

 

From Sitka, Alaska ~

This ship was our “home” for 8 days. We had excellent meals, entertaining shows, lots of exploring, and when we needed a break we would head up to the crafting room and make cards!

It was a big boat!

From our much smaller whale-watching boat, we were treated to this bear in the wild, fishing…and catching! He pulled up a big salmon and ate his lunch right in front of us! Uh, Mr. Turtle, can I borrow your binoculars for a closer look?

These brown and black bears live in a bear rescue facility called “Fortress of the Bear.” They were rescued as cubs when their mothers were hunted down or accidentally killed, and have lived there for a few years. The refuge is built to mimic their natural habitat and has walking bridges overhead for visitor viewing. I think that brown bear up there was begging for some treats. Do you think he has received some goodies from some soft-hearted tourists?!!

Here’s a spout, but I couldn’t get any photos of whales that would show well. We did see approximately 15 humpbacks feeding around our boat! Quite a treat!

It was a great trip. One we will remember for a long time!
