Happy Thanksgiving to you! I started out to make a Thanksgiving card for today’s Create With Connie & Mary sketch challenge, but my design went an entirely different direction! Sometimes it has a mind of its own!! Today we have this sketch to work with and I chose Happier Than Happy for my card. Here’s the sketch:
And here’s my card:
This was fun to build. I absolutely adore the images in this set. It could go baby, or any happy occasion really!
Details:
- Thick Basic White Cardstock base, 8-1/2″x 5-1/2″, scored and folded at 4-1/4″
- Happy Forest Friends DSP, (muchrooms) 5-1/2″x 2-3/4″, (coral print) 5-1/2″x 1-1/2″
- Sahara Sand Cardstock for the oval frame (Framed Florets Dies)
- Basic White for the inside oval to the frame, and scraps for stamping
- Sentiment in Basic Gray from Happier Than Happy
- Leafy sprig in Gray Granite, mushroom in Poppy Parade
- Sahara Sand Twill Ribbon
- Seasonal Sequins
Directions:
- Glue the mushroom print to the top of the Thick Basic White card base.
- Glue the coral print to the bottom of the base.
- Next, wrap the ribbon around from the inside of the card and tie a know on the front left. Don’t adhere it down.
- Cut a frame from Framed Florets Dies, one in Sahara Sand and one in Basic White. Slide the Sand frame only under the ribbon and glue down.
- Stamp toward the top of the white oval, cut away about a third of the oval at the bottom so it stops at the ribbon. Glue in place.
- Stamp and die cut the leaf sprig and the mushroom. Glue the sprig flat to the card front, then use Mini Dimensionals to adhere mushroom partly on the ribbon and partly on the card.
- Add sequins.
- If you want to secure the ribbon now, slip a Glue Dot under the knot.
Fun and a little different! Now go over to Create With Connie & Mary to check out what the other designers have made with this sketch.
Have a wonderful Thanksgiving! We’ll be hosting 17 of our extended family today. Three generations and all their dogs! Should be crazy fun!
