Going Back in Time with this Birthday Card!

Today is my husband’s birthday!  I was looking through my stash for a masculine birthday card, and I found this one.  Now, don’t tell him, but I made this card a long time ago.  It’s been sitting in my box just waiting for the right opportunity !!  I made this card when I was a new stamper and following other more practiced stampers online.  I case’d this card from Susan Itell.  I eventually joined Stampin’ Up! under her, so I hope she doesn’t mind my posting it here after all this time.

So why am I showing you a card that obviously uses materials that are no longer available?  (This DSP was called Print Poetry.  I loved it and still have a bit.)  Simply because this is a layout that will look great with any coordinating DSP, and I think it’s a card design that will stand the test of time.

It is a 5″ square card.  The base is Crumb Cake, layered with (retired) Midnight Muse, Very Vanilla, then the DSP.  The solid yellow is Daffodil Delight.  The cupcake is punched out with the Cupcake Builder Punch.  My 2 year old grandson thought it was an ice cream cone, ha ha, and I can see his point!

I made the envelope with the Envelope Punch Board and lined the back flap with matching DSP Stack paper. I stamped the inside of the card with current products ~

Happy Birthday, Everyone is a Host stamp set that will be around for another month or so.  I stamped the balloon string from the Balloon Celebration stamp set and punched the balloon out with the Balloon Bouquet Punch.  I did the same on the outside front of the envelope.

This was a super fun card to make, and I think I’ll make another one with the new papers that are coming out in June.  If you would like specifics on how to make it – measurements and instructions – I will put it in my May Newsletter.  If you haven’t already signed up for my newsletter, you can – by simply clicking on the Contact Me button and filling out the short form.  I will be getting that out to my “subscribers” (it’s free) during the first week in May.

Thanks for stopping by!  See you back here real soon!
