Give a gift…of coffee!

Who doesn’t love getting the gift of a coffee card?! And with these hand-made card holders to tuck one into, you have a very special gift indeed! The process is simple:
  • Start with a piece of cardstock cut to 8-1/2″ x 3-1/8″, scored at 2″ and 6″. Fold both ends in and burnish. Round the corners of the top section.
  • Cut two pieces of Coffee Break DSP ~ 2-7/8″ x 2-1/4″, and 2-7/8″ x 1-3/4″. Round the corners of this smaller piece to match the cardstock. Glue to the top and bottom sections.
  • Notch the lower end to create a finger-hold, to more easily pull the gift card out.
  • Turn the piece over and add sticky strip to the inside sides of the bottom section and adhere to create the pocket. I use 1/8″ sticky strip that I bought on Amazon. Here is the link: https://www.amazon.com/Scor-Tape-1-8-X-27yds/dp/B0028Y5I30. If you prefer, you can use a half width of Fast Fuse along the sides, or start with your card a little wider and use Stampin’ Up! Tear & Tape.
Now to decorate!  I used the Coffee Cups Framelits along with the Coffee Cafe stamp set (bundle for a 10% discount!)

On this card, I used Crumb Cake, Garden Green, and Early Espresso. The sentiment from Coffee Cafe is heat embossed with white embossing powder onto Soft Sky Cardstock. When you glue the cup down, be sure to glue only the top half of the cup. I bet you can guess why!!
This card has Coffee Break DSP for the cup, Crumb Cake for the wrap, and Garden Green for the lid.
I tried to re-create a Caramel Macchiato on this one! I sponged three colors onto Whisper White – Early Espresso, Soft Suede, and Crumb Cake, blending to make an ombre look. I stamped the ice cubes inside the cup and put Wink of Stella on them to make them show a little better. And they do show better in person! The whipped cream on top is Whisper White, and the cup top is Vellum.
To keep the top closed when the card is in the pocket, I put a small piece of Velcro fastener on each side. I reinforced the stick with Tear & Tape.
I wanted to show you one more that I made, to show you my cup design. If you don’t recognize the DSP, it is Mocha Morning from several years ago. It was one of those that I kept a stash of – I love the colors, and I love the way it coordinates with the Chocolate Chip and Early Espresso on my cup!
There you have it! Ready to make some? I’m looking forward to trying some different combinations and styles of cups. There are so many possibilities!
