Gift Card/Money Holder Halloween Card

Are you ready for Halloween? I’ve got one more card idea for you. It’s my Gift Card/Money Holder Halloween Card! Whew, that’s a mouthful! I designed this card with the Create With Connie & Mary color challenge in mind. It needed Basic Black/Smoky Slate/+ and two colors. I chose Orchid Oasis and Crushed Curry.

My #1 grandson really just wants money or a gift card to his favorite fast food places (he’s 16 – that explains it, right?) So I put together a gift card/money holder and fit it to the front of a card that still has plenty of room to write all my gushy grandma sentiments inside!

Here’s the front ~

and here’s the inside ~

This may qualify for a “kitchen sink” card because I pulled from many different pieces of products to pull it off!

Products:
  • Cardstock ~ Basic Black, Smoky Slate, Orchid Oasis, Crushed Curry, Basic White
  • Designer Series Paper ~ Celebrate Everything (Host pack)
  • Dies ~ Celebrations Tags, All That
  • Embossing Folder ~ Into the Clouds
  • Stars ~ Witch Hat Builder Punch
  • Sentiment ~ Cottage Wreaths
  • Ink ~ Orchid Oasis
  • Ribbon ~ Orchid Oasis 1/8″ Metallic Woven Ribbon
Process:
  • Make the card base out of black cardstock.
  • Glue a 4-3/4″x 3-1/2″ piece of Smoky Slate to the front.
  • Cut a strip of Orchid Oasis Cardstock 3-1/2″+1/16″ x 1-1/4″ and attach it to the front with Tear & Tape on the ends (leaving the center open to slide the gift card holder in).
  • Cut an oval from All That Dies with Smoky Slate and stamp Boo! in Orchid Oasis. Glue it to the center of the Orchid strip.
  • Punch and glue several stars using the Witch Hat Builder Punch from Crushed Curry Cardstock. Glue to the front.
  • Position the card front into the Into The Clouds Embossing Folder and emboss the whole front.
  • Create a Gift Card Holder with the Halloween paper from Celebrate Everything DSP. Insert card or money and tie the top with some Orchid Metallic Ribbon.
  • Slide the Gift Card Holder into the Orchid Oasis Cardstock strip. It should fit snuggly.
  • Add Wink of Stella to the stars for additional sparkle.
  • To the inside, glue a left over strip of Halloween paper to the bottom of a Basic White panel.
  • To the envelope, glue some additional paper to the outer flap.
  • Mail to your grandson with some lovey-dovey embarrassing grandma-speak inside 🙂

The texturing step was an after-thought! It seems a little flat (aka boring) without it. That’s why I ran it after gluing it together. But as it turned out, I love the texture it gave to the whole card front, including the stars!

  1. Aboosolutely too cute!

  2. Brilliant!! I absolutely love it!

  3. Love this layout with the gift card pouch on the outside. Besides being a “kitchen sink” card, the layout is universal to so many occasions. This is one for the “file”. I’m sure Isaac will love it, too!

  4. Very cute. Love the paper too.
