Full of Love (for CCMC758)

Today at Create with Connie & Mary, we have a color challenge. We have a deep, rich palette of Melon Mambo, Coastal Cabana, and Starry Sky. I decided to send some love with the Full of Love stamp set. Here is the challenge board ~

And here’s my card ~

I used a color medium that I haven’t pulled out in a long time – Watercolor Pencils and a Blender Pen! It was fun to go back to something that we used to use before the Blends Alcohol Markers came out. First of all, we don’t have a Melon Mambo alcohol marker but we do have it in a Watercolor Pencil!

Steps to re-create this card ~
  • On a piece of Basic White, stamp the image from Full of Love with black Stāzon ink.
  • Scribble a little color on each flower and leaf using Watercolor Pencils in Melon Mambo, Coastal Cabana, and Night of Navy.
  • With a Blender Pen, smooth out the pencil marks to fill in the images.
  • With Blends, flick a bit of color to enhance the colored images: Polished Pink over the Melon Mambo, Starry Sky over the Navy, and Bermuda Bay over the Coastal Cabana.
  • With a light hand, color the envelope with the Basic Gray pencil.
  • Stamp the sentiment below the image.
  • Die cut a “frame” around the images using a Stitched With Whimsy die and trim the white panel down to 4-3/4’x 3-1/2″.
  • Mount it on a 5″x 3-3/4″ piece of Coastal Cabana Cardstock, then onto the Starry Sky base.
  • Add three Glossy Dots and a Coastal Cabana twine bow.
  • To give your envelope a little love, cover the flap with a 6″x 2″ piece of Coastal Cabana DSP and a 1/4″ strip of Starry Sky Cardstock. Trim to fit.
