Free As A Bird

I knew that Free As A Bird would be my first pre-order stamp set to buy the moment I saw it. I’m in love with these little birds! I love the artwork, and the mixed fonts in the set are really nice. It will be available for purchase on June 4, 2019.

We just got home from a trip to the Mid-West where we visited some cousins that we hadn’t seen in many years. They have a beautiful home outside Charles City, Iowa. (Anybody out there from Iowa?) The birds come from miles to eat in their many bird feeders. Naturally, I thought this stamp set would make the perfect thank you card!

I started by stamping the birds on Whisper White with Memento Black and colored them with several of my Blends markers.

Then I cut them out with some new stitched dies that are called Stitched Nested Labels Dies. There are eight different sizes plus one straight border die. They will be bundled with Free As A Bird and when purchased together you save 10%.

I used a new DSP as well, called Bird Ballad DSP. It is one of the packs that I’m offering in my DSP Share and you can see it HERE. Like the stamp set and dies, it will be available on June 4.

My “Thank You” stamp is from the retiring All Things Thanks set. To finish it off, I made the bow with Braided Linen Trim.

I hope you are having a wonderful week! And I hope you’ll come back on Friday to see another card that I made using this beautiful suite. SUBSCRIBE to my blog and never miss a post! Just enter your email in the space under my photo at the top right side of this post.

  1. From the Cedar Rapids/Marion IA area. Charles City not to far from us. Been there and through many times on way to family in MN. I enjoy your cards. Very nice.

    • Thanks so much, Sammi! I enjoyed driving through Iowa. Such pretty farms along that route! We didn’t get down to the bigger cities, so I now have this vision of Iowa as rural and serene.

  2. Pretty card Karen!

  3. Chris from Pella

I don’t think I have ever been to Charles City and I forgot how far away we decided it was. I hope the weather cooperated for you we have had such weird weather. Glad you had a safe trip.

Love the card. By coloring them yellow they remind me of the baby geese at Central College by us. There were 6 babies but it didn’t take long and now they are gangly teenagers. One is even a bit unruly and swims away from the group and explores on his own. Mama and papa goose definitely let them know about it! It will be fun to color these little birds. Today we are bright and sunny so this was a fun card to celebrate the break from the rain.

    • Chris, we had beautiful weather while we were there! It was a really nice trip. Some of the birds we watched at their bird feeders were bright yellow 🙂 It was fun to color these. They will look cute in many colors!

  4. I was born in Charles City!

    • It’s such a small world, isn’t it, Miss Emilie? It is a cute little town ~ I was quite taken with it!
