Flying Home: In Remembrance of JoAnn Hallam

My mother-in-law loved birds. She has walk-in aviaries in her back yard and bird cages in her house. She has bird houses and food scattered about for the wild birds that always find their way to her “sanctuary.” I was thinking of her when I colored this card with the cute bird houses called “Flying Home.”

This happy stamp set comes in Wood- or Clear-Mount and has several bird loving stamps in it ~

To make this card I first cut a piece of Wood Textures DSP, 5-1/2″ x 4-1/4″, and glued it to the Early Espresso card base of the same size.
I stamped the bird houses (one stamp) onto Thick Whisper White with Memento Tuxedo Black ink and colored in the images with my Stampin’ Blends.
Colors: Dark Crumb Cake, Bronze, Light Night of Navy, Light Pool Party,
Light Daffodil Delight, Dark Pumpkin Pie, Dark Cherry Cobbler

I trimmed the Whisper White piece down to approximately 3-1/4″ x 3-1/2″ and layered it on top of Real Red, 1/8″ larger on all sides.

I wrapped Linen Thread around the 2 layers and tied a bow, then attached it to the Wood Textures DSP with Dimensionals.

I stamped the two tiny birds with Memento Black, colored them blue, and trimmed around them very closely and glued them into place.

“Oh Hello Friend” is from the Oh, So Eclectic stamp set, layered with Layering Circles Framelits, and adhered with a Dimensional.

On the inside I stamped another bird house with a bird and the little bee that is buzzing in to say “Hi!”
I glued a tiny scrap of matching Wood Textures DSP under the house to give it something to sit on.😊
Mom would have enjoyed this card. Sadly, she passed away Monday morning, so I’m dedicating this post to her. Rest in peace, Mom. We love you!
