The yellow roses in the DSP are so beautiful in the multi-layered Bumble Bee color. I colored the birds with my Daffodil Delight and Calypso Coral Blends to (hopefully!) compliment the colors in the paper.

Two Ways to Step It Up

You can add Dimension and visual interest to any stamping project with just a couple of steps.

  1. After stamping, coloring, and cutting this bird panel, I ran it through my embossing machine (aka Big Shot!) with the Tasteful Textiles 3D Embossing Folder. It gives cardstock the look of fabric!
  2. I cut two borders with the edgelit die in Peony Dies and Bumble Bee Cardstock to give a decorative outline on the top and bottom of the bird panel. I love that Stampin’ Up! is bringing back these edge dies! Ornate Borders Dies has some beautiful ones too. See an example HERE.

Tips for Success
  1. Do all stamping and coloring before texturizing the paper.
  2. Use the light and dark Blends markers for depth of color. Many of my customers have told me that they just use the light one to color. Sometimes that is fine, but using both really adds a beautiful depth and richness! I didn’t use both on my little flowers on this piece and I wish I had!
  3. To easily create an angled panel like this one, cut your cardstock to 2″ wide and 5″ long. Add decorative edged borders if desired. Glue it to the DSP at the angle you like, leaving the sides hanging over the right and left edges. After the glue dries, cut the sides even with the DSP either with scissors or your Trimmer. It’s so much easier than trying to cut it to match your layers before gluing!
  4. Use Thick Whisper White or Thick Very Vanilla Cardstock for your card bases. They are so much sturdier! Who wants a floppy, top-heavy card?!!!

How fun! I love yellow roses and this paper. I do like how the DSP is broken up with the white panel and the birds. Love birds. Over pretty card.
